'86-88 and '89-91 Front Bumper Difference

I was looking around for clear turn signals and such and for some reason I've come across the fact that later model second gen. clears will not fit on earlier model second gens. So what exactly is the difference between the two front bumpers and what other body differences are there? Pictures if possible please.

- S4 bumpers have a rubber strip between the nose and body, S5s don't
- S4s have the black band, S5s have a color matched one
- S4s have a Mazda sticker, S5s have Mazda molded into the bumper
- Brake duct intake's a bit different
- S5s had Foglights mounted in the brake duct intake, S4s tend to have them tacked onto the under-bumper

The signal lights are longer and thinner on the s5. Also there clear and the s4's are orange. OOps. I read your post to quick I guess.

Thanks for the info guys. So now all I need to do is when I order it just tell whoever I order it from that I need a front bumper cover for a 89, 90, or 91 RX7, or is more info required to specify that I need the S5 bumper? Cause I don't think everyone will know what an S5 FC3S is.

You need the front signal lights(marker lights/blinkers) too and the molding is not gonna match up.

If I wanted it to look exactly like an S5 what would that entail besides the front bumper and moldings all around. Honestly I can't tell the difference yet even when looking at those two pictures S4RXHVN put up. If I went with just the Front bumper and moldings would it look tacky?

To make it look like an S5 you'd need the front bumper, and all lights to go with it, all side moldings, rear bumper, and S5 tail lights.

imo - having a s5 front with s4 moldings is tacky. its best to keep the moldings and bumpers the same series

Thanks Titostoy that's exactly the kind of example that I was looking for. Now do you happen to have a shot of the rear bumper differences?

It's pretty much just the rub strip going around on the rear bumper. I don't think it's removable, either, that's why you have to get the whole bumper.

Also the bottom portions are different...the S4 rear bumper is much simpler and cleaner imho.

no - i still have the s4 rear. but like staker said - the differences is the strip and i believe the side comes a lil further down on the s5...kinda hard to explain. i'm still looking for a s5 rear bumper
