A: Who told you your plug wires were fine and the fuel filter was fine?

B: Get the injectors professionally cleaned. http://www.cruzinperformance.com/fuelinj.html does a good job for cheap.

Sounds like you have a fuel leak. Are you exhaust pipes filled with a black soot?

okay, step one: forget about what everyone told you.
step two: you are getting 8 miles to the gallon, something is wrong and you need to replace ****.

SO,
check for a clogged cat.
change yer damn fuel filter anyways if you havn't changed it before.
check and see if your o2 wire is actually plugged up to the harness.
replace your o2 sensor if you havn't already
check for a fuel leak
try the techron stuff first, but sometime in the near future get them cleaned at cruzin.
change your wires anyways
have your coils tested

alot of this is preventive maintenance. you HAVE to do these things.

I don't see why unless you're really not mechanically inclined. All of the stuff Rupert said is pretty easy to do. Careful with the fuel filter, smoking = bad .

NEVER GO TO THE DEALER.

unless you need things like a thermostat etc....

and never go back to that shop. work on your own car. you will learn alot and it's not that difficult, really. just basic tools and some knowledge will get you there

but if you must, go to a good shop, like driver's edge or something.

its not that hard. just likesir rupert hobo said, just pick up one of those haynes manuals. theyre pretty easy to read and learn from and just take your time. start easy and remember everything you do so if something bad does happen you can come back here and say 'i did blah blah blah to my car and now this and that are happening. help!' and then someone will know what to do. happy motoring!

Before I got my car I didn't even know how to do that stuff . Hayne's, FSM, and this forum (and links from it) have told me more than enough of what I've needed to know.

Dollars to donuts there is a massive vacume leak most likely around the upper intake manifold...get some carb cleaner and spray all over the seals by your upper and lower intake and your TB I bet your problem lies in there, A new gasket set from autozone at about $30 will pay for itself in a week.
