8,000 RPM for turbo swap

If I do a turbo at some point, is there something I can do that will make revving to 8,000 on a 13B worthwhile? Street porting? 3" exhaust? Cone intake? Boost controller? Or will it take a different turbo?

It seems like such a waste to have such a nice 8,000 redline and not be able to use it...hehehe

well, at that speed, the turbo has lost steam. most likely if you want boost and power to still be coming on at 8k rpms, then you will need a bigger turbo, but the lag will be killer. if you want, just rev it to 8k.

depends on the setup, porting and turbo, i have put together plenty of setups that didn't taper off boost or power before 8k.

I'm not going to rev it that high if the power drops after 7,000... but it just feels like a step back to lower your redline.

Can it be done with stock turbo? What about stock ports and turbo?

Not with a street port on a stock turbo and increased boost? Also with a 3" exhaust and cone filter.

I know it sounds silly and all, but I figure if the rotary can rev so easily and can take over 8,000, you might as well use it.

the turbine is still restrictive, if you modify the turbine housing then maybe.

As stated, the turbo is the main restriction. Torque and boost take a nose dive beyond 7k RPM.

Maybe I'll just print out a transparent overlay that makes the 7,000 to 8,000 a half-redline like on the FD or GT-R...hehe

that is how the stock 2nd gen turbos are anyways, unless i'm losing my mind all 2nd gen turbos had an 8k peak with 7k redline.

if you have a s4 turbo port match the ports and remove the flapper on the manifold. seems like the more you remove on these cars the faster they get.
