7k hesitation????

I have a streetported S5 engine in my 90 Vert. I get a weird hesitation at 7k rpms. I don't drive up there much obviously, but it's my understanding that my peak power comes over 7k. Am I wrong? Is this no big deal? Am i causing more harm by revving 7k anyways?
Any help is appreciated.

Funny you started this thread...My car does the exact same thing. I have a PR streetport on my 1991 n/a.

I have thought about the possibilities: and its either a slipping clutch at high tourqe (for a rotary) - but I upgraded to an ACT s/s clutch and PP...so thats unlikely. Or not enough fuel. However, I did not think that a streetported N/A would need a fuel upgrade.

Anyone know the anwser to this?

Ted,
So you think its spark related? Would new plugs/wires in addition to a Crane Hi6 help? Or is that overkill on a streetport n/a?

Do streetported n/a's need additional fuel?

I will agree with Ted. It's possible your getting some ignition break up. New plugs and wires will possibly help but a Crane or Msd wouldn't hurt either.

That's the million dollar question.
If it was ignition, it would be easy to fix.&nbsp If it's fuel, it will either mean fuel injectors, fuel filter, wiring, ECU, or something stupid - but I highly doubt this is the case.&nbsp Fuel hesistation is more like a bog - you're trying to describe a "hiccup", right?&nbsp If so, it's most likely ignition.

I don't run my spark plugs beyond 5k miles, and I do run a Crane HI-6.&nbsp If you're not running a CDI box, the engine's performance will start to degrade at 3k miles, especially with stock 7's in the leadings.&nbsp If you're running original spark plugs wires, it's a good idea to change them now.

Not usually...

I guess thats what I'm saying. To give you more detail. It kinda feels as though the accelerator pedal is being steped on and released and gives that jerk forward and back feeling in the seat. But it only happens abouve 7k. It seems like its gasping for something.

BTW, I have MSD wires - 10k old
and 4k old plugs.

I'm assuming you exhaust is not stock? My TII did that when I first got it and it was partially clogged cats that did it. I put in a whole new exhaust, dp, high flow cat, ec.. problem went away.

But, yes. I agree with the others, double check your fuel and spark

Since you got a Kouki model, try and do an error code scan.&nbsp Another member's Kouki FC NA was producing weird hesitations up high, and it turned out to be a CAS problem...
