Question Is the 7 for me??

Well i know this question is depending on me and the rx7s that i can find or affort but i need some throughts on my choices right now. Well I recked my little girl car MX3. It was my first car so it really broke my heart when i crashed it. Ever since i drive that car i lelf in love with mazda engineering and int. So when i am looking for a replacment car now especialy one with more performance i looked at the RX7s. But i only got about 2 grand. Now 2grand can get me another mx3 or some other little low power front wheel drive car but i know with some luck i could find a nice rx7. And i have always like rx7s. Even when i felt in to the trap of buying a supra that i like and only brought because it was cheap. So I been car less for weeks so i need a car soon. But i have yet to find a rx7 of my dream. Would it be stupid to keep waiting for the right 7 or should i just settle for the first nice litttle car i come by. OH by the way i need it for a everyday car for the next 6 months to a year or so. So with the money i got or want to spend and i found two rx7 that is in my range. A 86 se with some body damage for 2000 that runs great, or a gtu with little body damage but clutch feels a little funny and the shifting bushing is gone. The Gtu owner will fix the clutch but the engine is not rebuilt. And the se has a rebuild engine that has about 80000 on it. Well yeah I just need to hear what some of you have to say about my situation. Thank you for you time i know is a little long. ANd i know my english is bad.

If you're going to use it as an everyday car, be sure to get one with a strong engine. If it blows an apex seal, you'll be screwed for quite a while and for quite a bit of $$$. The 86 se sounds like a good deal. Body damage can always be repaired easily, while mechinical problems can't be. I'd suggest going with that.

You are on the right track, though- for daily driving, stick with an N/A. Much better reliability, and you still get tight handling and, of course, those ravishing good looks.

Even the n/a isn't without fault- be prepared to tinker with the electrics- they are notoriously gremlin- prone.

Tons of info here on the common glitches- and if you are handy with a soldering iron you can fix most of them yourself.

Good luck, and happy rotor hunting!

if thats the original engine I wouldn't spend all that much for it becuase i've always heard that 160 to 200k is the limmit actually I've never even heard of that many making it to 200k and if it did it was because it was taken care of very well. Oil changed excessively etc...

Not being an *** in the above post or anything man, but these cars are just quirky as hell, as you can see by the thousands of threads trying to descripe what someones car is doing, why it runs like ****, wont idle and blows up all the time. Also if you noticed, there is closed to 30k members of this forum, so if its right for us, why not for you? You should try the forsale section of this forum and see if you can find someone that has posted there car for sale, that has done some relaibility mods to it and taken care of it. You can find ALot better cars than what you have posted for cheaper if you just look around a little bit. Also be prepared to work on the car on the side of the road in the middle of the night in the pooring down rain. It just seems to happen that way! But man if you really want it, and enjoy working on cars (alot) than its right for you, but you may really never know untill you get one.

Read the FAQ at the top of the page lots of good basic info about the car so you know what you're getting into.
