7 caught fire this morning need advice

So this morning was not a fun morning I just about made to work and I started to smell a wierd rubber and gas smell figured it was the caddy in front of me that had all sorts of smoke coming out of it a block later I pull into work and that's when thing went to ****.

Smoke starts filling the car I stop the car smoke starts pouring out from under the hood I shut the car off throw open the hood and then I see fire lucky for me I had stopped next to a snow bank and so I started chucking snow on the manifold and fuel lines trying to get it out about 10 seconds later its out.

I got to look it over for a minute and it looks like a fuel line by the fuel rails cracked and poured fuel on the exhaust manifold causing it to start on fire.

So here's my problem I have most everything I need to convert n/a to turbo and all that appears to be wrong ATM wotj the car is fuel lines are melted and one of the electrical lines are going to need to be replaced. So do I convert it now and replace everything then or replace the n/a parts and go from there.... Sorry I am in a rush more details and pics later

I don't understand the dilemma.

Either you can/want to swap now or you can't.

If you can, it would make no sense to touch the NA...just yank it and start fresh with the replacement motor.
If you can't, then obviously the damage must be repaired so the car can run again.

Am I missing something?

Sorry I was pretty shaken up this morning

My options are right now
1. Fix it call it good
2. spend another 600 and swap all the parts over
3. Swap part of my setup over (turbo intakes throttlebody fuel rails etc. And repair damage

1.The damage is by the fuel rail itself so if I want to fix it right I need to pull the fuel rails off inspect and or replace those plus the lines.

2.By conversion I ment 6port turbo that's my fault for not explaining that better. The way I an doing it involves turbo intake /exhaust mani and injectora etc. All swapped into an n/a keg.

3. By swapping intakes and throttlebody etc. I have completed most of my swap and fixed my problem

Comments?

Ouch, sorry to hear that, sounds like the pulsation dampener under the intake manifold maybe leaked and failed? If it's an S4 it's replaceable, if an s5, the whole rail gets replaced.

If you are going 6 port turbo, make sure you have the electronics such as sensors and ecu. Sounds like you have most of the main components though.

It's up to you, we both are fairly close in location and I know I personally wouldn't want to be playing with a 6port turbo and driving it in this weather we have been having. I would wait till it gets warmer, that way I can troubleshoot anything that might need tweeking without worrying about getting stranded in the cold, but it's just me...

So far on the list of things that need to be replaced
1. Fuel lines
2. FPR maybe
3. Engine harness

Can someone help me ID this?

Unedited version of the above

Had same thing happen to me. Like other post said, most likely culprit is your PD. You have more damage than you think. Your OMP lines are toast. will need to be replaced. In looking at your pics, your TPS may be OK, so test it out. Your engine wiring harness is prob toast. Not sure if I would trust it now. Your fuel injectors, oil injectors, and fuel press regulator are prob suspect. If you check the harness connectors to your fuel injectors, you will be able to tell how hot the injectors got. You prob lost more vacuum lines than you can see right now (since they simply disappear in a fire). check the vacuum map real good. Your vac spider (the distribution manifold to your oil injectors) is probably an unrecognizable blob of plastic sitting on top of your housings right now. Once you get the UIM/TB assembly removed, you can see just what got fried. good luck. I was able to get my N/A running again for about $300. I got lucky and found a used Engine Harness on ebay for $85 that was still good. scour the wanted/for sale section and start shopping

Been there, done that. One very strong recommendation.

Be very careful when you pull off the Upper Mani so nothing falls into the intake. Once off, immediately stuff clean shop rags in all 4 holes. Reason being there is all sorts of loose debris all over that area now that could fall into the chamber and eff up the engine when you get it all back together and first start it up.

I just picked some up I had totally forgotten about that thanks.

Quick update

I decided to just say to hell with it and just go 6 port turbo since I am practically rewiring the car I might as well.

I ordered my A2W inter-cooler stuff a couple days ago

Got the 7 in a storage unit last night its small but 10x15 will fit an fc with about 6 inches to spare

Ordering some nice shiny AN fittings and lines tonight as well as a Aeromotive A1000 FPR and inline filter.
Its just going to the hard lines but I won't have to worry about any engine fires for a while

Gaskets are getting ordered tonight as well hopefully be ready for the rebuild soon.
