6port turbo question

Before you ream me out to bad I was searching for about 3 hours last night and could not find the answers.

1) Has anyone been having problems with using J.B. Weld to fabricate the turbo intake manifold to meet the 6port block? With haveing fuel in the air mixture has the J.B. Weld disigrated at all? Has there been any problems with the J.B. Weld adhearing to the manifold?

2) Wastegate Springs. I have a s5 turbo with the stock wastegate on it. I do not want to run any more then 10psi MAX (10psi would be the big$$ races) I am thinking of normal operation at 6psi. What is the stock wastgate set at and should I replace it with a diffrent spring if I am able to?

Thanks for your help, let the flaming begin.

Not that I've heard. JB-Weld is commonly used for this, though I wouldn't do it. Make sure the surface is VERY clean and rough it up to give the JB-Weld something to bite to. Let it cure a few days before you machine on it.

Port the wastegate. No matter what spring you run, the wastegate is too small to regulate boost if you have an open intake and exhaust.

Anyone else got some feedback on this. Not that I don't take your advise seriously, infact I almost take it as law. I just want to see what everyone else has to say on the topic.

the stock wastegate actuator opens at 5.5 psi from what i heard but with my n/a turbo with ported wg it holds at 4psi only with the valcume line coming from the compressor housing like your suppose to.

my jb weld is holding up. only got about 100 miles on it tho no signs of cracking or anything. reason why i know this is because i had to take my lIM because i had a leak.

I made one manifold with the "Industrial" J.B weld, and one with a MIG Wirefed welder. TO me the MIG seemed to look and feel stronger and also machined out smoother without the "air bubble" issues I had in one small section of the JB'd manifold. Alas both appear to be usefull and I wouldn't tell you not to use JB.. Make sure that you get the surface perfectly flat with a mill or you will have endless intake leaks....
