now I know people are probably going to call me crazy or something, but i want to post this to spite my friend because I finally found 6mm seals which he said were not possible. I just want to know how much boost can be run on these.

I am interested to see myself. I remember reading a debate about 2mm vs. 3mm, so lets see where this goes. Where did you find 6mm apex saels, BTW?

the pre 73 motors used 6mm carbon seals from the factory. they are 12a only and they wont hold any boost becuse they are carbon. if you get iron seals the gain in durability probably wont be offset by the increase in friction.

They won't seal very well, and will be a huge drag on the housings.

The stock 2MM seals can handle quite a lot of boost...more than any street engine will be seeing.

I still think im gonna go for the 3mm seals, i want to make sure that nothing goes wrong, also are the any stronger materials that the rotors can be made out of, like titanium(probably a stupid question, but worth a try)

Why do so many people go for bigger seals?

You need to brush up on your geography. The site you referenced is in Canada as in Calgary, AB(Alberta) not AL(Alabama)

USE THE SEARCH OPTION..
don't forget using 3mm, obviously you will have to pay to have someone clearance the rotors to hold them... costs more money.. and you probably won't have ANY difference than 2mm seals... 6mm ? that's funny haha
Just don't run lean keep an eye on your air/fuel ratio, and make sure you have the proper fuel components to run the wanted boost levels!

Um, yeah. Good luck finding titanium rotors for less than $10K.

3mm seals are usually used when the rotors are too worn to still accept 2MM seals. 2MM seals are superior to 3MM, and are almost as strong. It's just as easy to kill 3MM seals.

I don't think they replace too much to only be charging 1235 for a S5 TII rebuild...

that seems strange.. they have to machine to put in 3mm seals don't they? 6mm would just be insane. If you tune it properly, the seals are fine @ 2mm in my opinion.. but I'm not an engine builder.

would machining the housing to fit 6mm seals be the equivilent to bore out a piston pusher?
