oh no... the GM T56 is hardly geared towards the high revs of a rotary engine. This will only result in a decrease in acceleration.

edit: not saying there aren't properly geared 6 speeds, but the general population will be using trannies out of a GM camaro or such, which are geared for the low-rpm, high torque of the Chevy pushrod V8.

Adding this tranny will be like swapping the rear-end to a 3.5 ratio. Good top speed, but bye-bye accel.

Unless you go bigger in back, too.

even with the 4.30, the total ratio is still about 2 points lower than stock.

Theres a difference between a true 6-speed and a 5 with an overdrive. =] As much as id like to have an extra gear, the stock tranny is pretty damn good all around.

This is for people wanting a tranni that will hold big power all around and also a tranni that will let you upgrade later down the road.

I'd like to take a 6 speed and place a ratio between 4th and 5th in the .85:1 range. Actually be able to max out the stock 5th gear because you'd have power up through that ratio to be able to utilize the .69:1 our current OD is at.

Stock
4th 1:1
5th .69:1

My prefered tranny
4th 1:1
5th .85:1
6th .69:1

Should be able to pull 170mph with an N/A with that tranny.

Except for the huge lack of horsepower in an NA....

Christ, with an extra 100 hp, the 3rd Gen doesn't pull that speed.
