5th and 6th port question (another one)
I want to remove my emissions stuff on my 89vert this weekend but i'd also like to keep the 5th and 6th port working so here's what i'm thinking. I could use some 12volt servos connected to a relay that opens them when the secondary injectors kick on. I was planning on splitting the lines going to secondary injectors and connecting them to the lowest resistance relay i can find that'll still do 12volts.
Thoughts please? Would this hurt the injectors?

Your profile says you have a 89 vert, so you don't need back pressure to open the 5th and 6th ports, just keep the air pump and you should be fine.
If your planing on dumping the air pump, then you could use something like a rpm switch and a electric air pump to open the 5th and 6th ports. Search for it, there has been a few good threads on how to do this.

Someone posted that you could use an electric air pump and wire a relay to a ground wire coming from the ECU that's suppose to activate to help open the actuators, but i don't know where that ground is. Anyone know where it is?

Installing an electric air pump instead of an RPM switch (if you're not planning on keeping the cats) is a waste of money and power :p
As I recall, the actuators are vaccume activated, not electronic?

Any mechanical solenoids used to directly operate the sleeves would have to be able to withstand the heat of the exhaust sitting directly below them, and they would most likely need be very expensive industrial-grade items. Cheap mechanical solenoids would not last long.
Why not just leave the whole system as it is? It works perfectly, it's no more complicated than any alternative methods, and best of all it's absolutely free. Spend your time and money on mods that will actually improve performance instead.

I'm thinking that i might keep the air pump, but i also want to get rid of the rats nest under the intake manifold...i guess i'll have to buy a lot of vacuum line caps.

The necessary plumbing for the 6PI and VDI systems is pretty simple (see the FSM schematics). If you were to remove the emissions gear and all the hard lines but keep the air pump, it would be a relatively simple task to remount the 6PI and VDI solenoids somewhere and run new rubber lines from the air pump to the solenoids to the actuators, and keep the whole lot functioning as it should.
