5th and 6th port

I have a 1987 rx7 and I was looking at the 5th and 6th port actuator and the rod that they connect to seems to be broken( loose). I don't think there even working beacause I did the grease test and nothing mover after a fun ride. So I wanted to see suggestions people had of what to do now? Fix, remover, or ect....

can you push them by hand? i've had a couple where the rod rusted to the actuator, so the fix was really easy, remove actuator, lube, and reinstall.

if the sleeve is actually stuck, the intakes need to come off, so you can remove and clean it. its actually been a while since i saw a stuck sleeve though

i'd recommend fixing it, the car runs better, and it won't cost much, except time

The problem is that the rod for the actuator is broken on the one near the firewall.

i think you can change the rod without having to remove anything else. the two screws holding it in, may require a bit of luck

You said you performed the grease test and the actuator didn't move, yes? Which "rod" is broken? Post a pic?

I guess I'm not clear on why you think it's broken, with the actuator removed, it should be very easy to move. Is the actuator not pushing against it? Do you still have the stock exhaust on it?
I'm not trying to be a dick, I just want to help diagnose it so you're not spending money needlessly; mechanic background and all.

I think the exhaust does not have the outlet for the actuators. I bought it from high school kid and he put exhaust on. I know that the actuators are frozen up and if I chose to fix it based on the info given.

As for the rod that connects the sleeve to the actuator rod. It's should be a knucle join not a ball joint( it swivels). I can post a video of what I mean later if needed. I am thinking I want to rebuild / replace everything I can. If I go that route I would like info on putting my own port in for the exhaust so I can get these thing working.

Unfortunately, the best way to get the actuation right would be to go back to stock or install the Racing Beat header with the tube. I actually just locked mine open, removing the actuators completely. As I have a lightened flywheel, I don't think I feel the low torque effects everyone complains about when doing this.

err the actuator rod has the end you see on it, its 1 piece. it pivots in a bushing in the intake, actuator sits on a pin. its very simple

N326-13-B80A is the front rod and
N327-13-B80A is the rear rod

they are NLA from Mazda.

you are better off either finding a used intake and cleaning it, or taking yours apart and cleaning it.

the rods themselves come out without having to take the manifold off
