It does not add any hp, it just allows more air into the engine, allowing for quicker revvs, and stronger pull above 3k RPM. It really cuts toque though. And yes, it is street legal on it's own. I did mine in about 30 min, but I also removed my air pump, which is not street legal.

I wired mine open to see if my actuators were opening. Not only did it cut my low-end torque, but it cut my top end as well.

That is really strange. There is some other preoblem w/ your engine then. How the actuators work is at low RPM, the air needs to be at high velocity to properly feed the engine's combustion, so the ports are closed, so that the other 4 ports are feeding air into the engine only, via long, thin runners. At high velocity, the engine sucks enough of the air it needs, so it does not matter if the air is fed at high velocity, it just needs lots of air, so the ports open to feed that need. If you are seeing a cut in high end power, there is something else going on.

If you're doubting your top end horsepower, please check you cats if they're still original. Clogged cats will cut your high end power like none other. That's what happened to me.

I bought pineapple sleeves and just waiting save up enough $$$ to port and extrudehone the intake as well as the TB mod. I am not going through all the trouble to just get these sleeves in, no way.

BTW, will anybody do the TB mod for me for a price? it's really difficult for me to get the tools and space needed to do the mod.

Ok, I temoved the actuators. They are held on be 2 10mm bolts each. After removing the bolts, you just pull em off. Then, I turned the front port forward, toward the radiator, and the rear port back, toward the firewall. Get a Haynes manual. On page 138, if I remember right, it elss you a how to on removing the actuators. It is pretty easy. If you do a lot of stoplight to stoplight driving, leave em working, if you do a lot of top end running, like in autocross, wire em. Ask RETed, nothing is better than a preperly working auxillary port system...So it is your call.
