52MM Guages in Stock s5 location?

As the title states. My oil pressure guage went out on me yesterday. (reads over 100psi at all times) I have some megan racing guages from my 280zxt that I want to put in my 7. My question is will they fit in the stock locations in an s5? I will only be replacing oil pressure and water temp. My boost guage will go on the pillar. I did a search and all I could come up with was stuff for FD's. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Steve.

Are you sure it's the gauge that failed?
Seems just as likely that the wiring has somehow grounded out...

no they won't fit. i have already thought of doing the same thing. the reason they won't work is because of the circuit board on the back and the gauge faces. the gauge faces are printed as one piece. the tach is separate, speedo is separate, and the temp/pressure/fuel/volts is one piece. you could technically do it but that would mean sacrificing all of your gauges to put those in. also the holes need to be enlarged slightly, when you put four gauges in the left side of the cluster they hit each other. it's not worth it. i am sick of all the gauges in my car so when i go to japan for auto salon i might get the defi sports cluster!

Even if you built a completely new surround like I have done many a time you can't get more than 3 in there including a 5" tach and a 3 & 3/8" Speedometer. The top guage gets cut off by the surround. Lemme find a pic

Yeah - like this -

You could drop the top one down a bit but it would still be cut off slightly

Ain't happening really either way. 10lbs of **** in a 5 lb bag basically

on the custom you could go with a smaller tach and get the 4th in there...

Smaller tach Nah! the speedometer is the questionable item here.
IMO you could've gone smaller or not at all..
Oh is this on a street driven car?

No speedo?? i would much rather go with the 3" tach than run no speedometer. who needs a 5" tach anyways, even though it looks cool as ****. make a new one like TTT did and use a smaller tach and it should work perfectly

To me gauges are something that people go nuts about for no reason...they mostly serve as eye candy to most people I guess. Yes a good oil pressure, water temp and fuel pressure are important and a few others are key depending on your set-up. However they can almost all be replaced by a simple warning light. On a track or when I'm running I honestly almost NEVER look at the gauges... simply need to have my eyes on the road ahead... mush easier to simply know that if a warning light comes on, something is wrong... The less I have to worry about besides the road the better. On a dyno or for tuning thats a different story.

Not the way I would do it -but here:

Thanks for all the great responses. I appreciate all the input. I think I may toy around with a custom setup.

Drftwerks - How did you get that to work? Fuel gauge still works? If you could give me some info on that setup?

Again thanks for all the responses.

Steve.

That's interesting, who's car is that... I may know the guy that built that dash I like it, it looks damn good. My personal preference is to have the tach centrally located

I agree that warning lights are better than actual gauges. That's one of the reasons I went with this piece

I can set 6 warning lights to activate whenever I want, low oil pressure, over heat temp, overheat oil, ect ect ect. Then 3 analog gauges where the idiot lights used to be for boost, fuel level and volts. Done. Nothing needs to be looked at save the speedo unless a warning light comes on and the ECU is logging 64 channels anyway sooooooooo, yeah

AIM MXL Strada. No need for the Pista or the Pro. The Motec M820 does all the logging I need.

For making more room on the original cluster area. What about analog guages and make the speedo digital only. SO the speedo only takes a few inches if its digital, Allowing more room for the analogs... Maybe you can fit a forth guage to the left of the tach.

I like this thread so far. I want to see more variety of guage set ups.

Not my cluster

But nice symmetry. Oil and Temp were on the a-pillar.

I shoulda bought that LS1 Vert, but I couldn't get it home from Ft. Lauderdale.
