Question 5000 rpms problem...weird

I just got a beautiful 87 t2 not to long ago. It runs great, just one thing thats alittle weird is. When ever im in 4th or 5th gear and at 5000 rpms or near it kinda jolts like if u were shifting, but not as hard. I did a test to see i the stock boost gauge moved when i hit that area but nothing happened. It kinda feels like the boost cuts out and if i hold the gas in it just kinda turns the boost back on a off. I let off when that happens. if anyone has any idea what the problem is let me know. Im guessing its either fuel cut off, or something dealing with how cold the air is. Help??

I have the same car, and have the same problem... Except that I have an FCD, so it's NOT fuel cut... I've been told it's the TPS, but I haven't had a chance to adjust mine yet...

You need a solid boost reference, i.e. a gauge you trust, to determine if it's fuel-cut or not. That's past 8#.
