5 lug conversion Q's

Ok i have been tossing around the idea of a 5 lug conversion on the SE for a couple of months. Well I traded the OEM stereo for a complete set of 5 lug hubs ect. I don't have the calipers. can i use the 5 lug brakes with my SE calipers? Will there be fitment probs or what please let me know... thanks

Thanks T nut but that wasn't my question.. In that thread no-one answered MY question....CAN THE ROTORS BE SWAPED WITHOUT THE CALIPERS????

I really just want to put the gxl wheels on my car and don't want to mess with the calipers and all....

please someone who has attempted this talk to me or let me know if it just isn't possible....

There was a thread on teamfc3s.org a while ago about it. And if I remember correctly the general opinion of the discussion, was that if youre changing the rotors, you should change the calipers too, b/c mixing and matching brake parts will in fact lead to fitment issues, especially going to a bigger(around as well as wider I think) rotor on calipers that are designed to work with something smaller.

I don't know the answer for sure, but I would think the SE calipers would NOT work, since the new rotors are larger in diameter. I would guess they'd scrape... if you could even get them to bolt up. plus, what's the point in doing the 5 lug conversion if you're not going to use the best part about it?

i dont think it would bolt up right... and besides why would you do the swap if you werent going to use the better calipers anyway and i personally dont think its worth the swap just to put gxl rims on it... imo

i did the conversion, and you need to change calipers in the fron and rear cosidering rotors are different, and you also need to change the brake lines in front, becasuse the bigger 4 piston calipers have a bigger brake line inlet nut..but besides that its fairly easy

p.s by the way you also need to take of the dust cover in the fron because the fron rotors on the 5 lug are 1 inch bigger,so if you dont take it off it will contintley rub on your rotors+no good..

There is really no reason to upgrade your lugs, save wheels, better pads will be a noticable difference, and save you a ton of money and time

wen u guys say "hubs" ur refering to the toe control hub rite? (jus to b clear) o and im in the middle of the conversion myself and i got a really important question so answer asap! wen removing the hub ther is three bolts (left, bottom, right) and i jus cant seem to get the left side to break loose ... i got the bolt out but it still holds on in there, i ended up breaking a seal (which is ok) but i cant afford to break another one so how the hell do u remove it?

uh

I would not reccomend doing it...extra wheels are a bitch to find because of the damn lug pattern (5by114.3), but if your application is not going to be prone to crashing ( hehe), then go for it...

i jus heard that it would b easy to swap the whole under carriage part instead of just the hub/caliper/rotor, is that true? and will everything just bolt up?
