Exclamation 4k rpms starts?!? help

i start the car it immediately shoot to 4k rpm seems like it has a vaccum leak or something i drilled holes in the bottom of the intake box but even after i went back and covered those (b/c i thought it might be that) the problem persisted ....any idea on wtf is wrong w/ the car why would it shoot up and stay at 4000 rpms?

does it go back down after you start it up or does it stay a 4k. Probly you accidentyl messed with the MAF sensor when you drilled the holes in the intake airbox?

Disconnect your throttle cable and see if it still does that. It may be stuck or mis-adjusted.

You can get a little breather filter to go on the end of the air pump hose justr about anywhere. Also, when drilling holes in your airbox... Drill the LID. If you drill holes in the bottom you are allowing air to bypass your filter and go striaght into the TB... I wonder how well it could process a big beetle....
