4K RPM Loss of Power
Car: 1987 Turbo II (JSpec Engine)
Ok, I figured out why the car wouldnt stay running. I forgot that I laid the cold start assist unit off to the side so that was a leak and once I plugged that up it idles on its own.
Only problem now is that it does idle alittle rough. Nothing major just not as smooth as it should but I haven't replaced wires or fuel filter yet so plan on doing that as well.
But, once I drove it the 7 ran great up until it hit around 4k RPM then it seems to lose power. Almost like your at the top of your power band but you know your not. Any ideas or advice is geatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

did you read the FAQ...? its probably the 3800 RPM lull that 7's are infamous for. check all your ground connections and clean all terminals. thats what i would guess anyways...

do you rev much past 4K?? cuz you said it seems like you are at the top of your power band but you definately arent...have you checked your secondary injectors...they are suppose to kick on at 4K, so if that is when you are noticing a power drop, or a no power increase, then maybe your secondaries arent coming online when they should be/or maybe the're not at all?? just a guess but that is what it sounds like to me...

Thanks for the help guys.
I located my problem though. Simple as a vaccum leak. Small vaccum nipple on the UIM didn't have a hose going to it. Added the hose and idles perfect now and goes all the way through the RPMs.
Thanks,
Mike
