I think you can go with anything you just mentioned as long as the offset is right, i have 18x7.5 with 225's all around with only a very minimal rub when fully turned right (my pic to the side is when i still have my 16" borbets with 205's but those rim got ruined in an accident)

I'm running BBS 17x8 (40+ offset) all around, 205/50 in the front and 235/45 in the rear. I got TEIN Type HA coilovers dropped a little past the "recommended height" and there is no rubbing. Although in the front I did have to use spacers and extended lug studs, but the rears will fit without spacers. You may have to roll your front fenders a little. I had to when I was using stock FD rims...16x8 215/50 in the front and 245/50 in the rear.

17x8 w/ 30mm offset fits great. i'm using 235/40/17, but i believe 245/40/17 will fit up front. 17x8 30mm offset puts the front tire flush with the fender, so i had to fold in the inside lip of the fender- but now i get no rubbing.

I had 225/55/16 tires on 32mm offset rims. With full suspension travel the fender cut into the tire, but I only experienced that on a track driving offcourse @ ~65mph.

heres a pic of 235 on 17x8 w/ 30mm offset. im using tokico springs and shocks - the front tire corner got cut up a little until i rolled the inner lip - now its all good. with a little more camber i'm sure it wouldnt rub at all (i have like no camber up front...)
the rears have plenty of clearance. you could easily fit 255's, maybe more.
btw, these are mustang GT wheels- theyre only 17lbs a piece, look good (IMO), and i got mine for 300 shipped on ebay.

17X7.5 +38 with 215/45/17 on the front is what I have and its perfect... you could use the same rim and step to a 225 or even 235 on the rear no prob..

if you step to a 8.5 to 9 incher on the rear... go with 32 + or minus a few mm offset and you can run 245 to 265's

wasnt trying to show off the rims- just showing how 17x8 30mm offset sits in relationship to the fender. the wheels are nothing special- cheap and light.
but heres a pic anyways :-/

too long a thread to read through. but if i remember correctly, a staggered setup can have an negative effect on your cars performance (understeer?) but since you have coilovers, i guess there's a way to fix the understeer... sorry if this has been mentioned already?

Uh, 225/55/16 is not even close to the stock diameters.
Was this a typo and not "205/55/16"?

No he doesn't.
If you didn't notice, the fenders are POUNDED out.
Are you willing to do this???
I don't consider them "under stock fenders".

I'm aware of that Ted, but there was no typo.

I have 235/40R17's in front and have had 255/45R17's on the rear. NO RUBBING and I use those wheels on road courses and autoX. Oh, the heat shield on the mufflers had to be pushed back a little, but that’s done by hand and it’s no problem.

The wheels are 17x8’s Ford mustang Cobra wheels and the offset is perfect.

The fronts are acutally wider then the wheel well (maybe a 1/32nd), but the camber change from the comression of the suspension tucks them in with no rubbing! I have also had a 235 wide tire on a 18x8" wheel, If the backspacing of the wheel is the same as the mustang wheels, and the tire is not taller then stock that will work too.

I posted pics of them a while ago, if they ever fix the search function, try that and maybe you can find it.

right on!
definitely a well balanced setup. I also ran 235/40 and some 255/40 out back on 17x8 front and 17x9 rears, both with a +35 offset. fitment was perfect without doing anything to the fenders, the front tires were damn close to my coilovers but there were no problems. I was able to drop the car very low and it looked HOT and didnty rub anywhere, even at stock height it didnt rub anywhere.

*if you are gonna think about running 235 fronts and 255 rears you might as well think about running lighter wheels in a 16'' size like 16x8 fronts and 16x9 rears so you can run 235/255 or even run 245 fronts and 265 rears if you can get shorter overall height tires for some even better gearing/acceleration.
