4 stroke oil in a 7

Hey guys ive been using 4 stroke motorcycle oil, non synthetic of course, i love it and my car seems to enjoy it too. I use it as regular oil.. BUT ive been going through the archives and i was intreged by the premix threads. Can I run premix with any oils rite?? I got a S5 so i can't remove the oil pump etc.. and i havnt got my stand alone ecu yet. I was just wondering what do u guys think about the 4 stroke or have anyone else decided to go motorcycle oil for good on their ported 13b's.. ORRRR premix.. is it really the best for our rotoaries??

Motorcycle oil is just likely regular oil that's marketed to bike owners. It's probably only very slightly different then regular oil, with a few additives that allow it to run at slightly higher temps (most bikes are air cooled).

The weight of the oil is the most important thing...

Overall, I don't recommend that you test oils on your engine. I've seen what happens when an engine dies due to lack of lubrication. It's pretty much the quickest way to turn your engine into a useless block of metal...In the same regard, I can't say I'm too thrilled with you almost recommend that others do the same.

Well ive been recommended this use becuase of motorcyle oils having less ditergents than regular car oils. I see in no way harm in the engine b/c your suppose to check ur oil constantly, i check weekly becuase my baby comsumes when i drive nuts. The premix question wasnt to open a pandora box or anything just wondering how many of u guys acutally use premix. anyways i used regular gtx castrol in the break in period and been using 4 stroke ever since and im at 60k with no engine problems and good compression. AND plus our engines produce more heat and can rev higher!

Curious; what motivated you to start using 4 stroke oil instead of the conventional 20-50 or 10-40? Did someone recommend you start using this oil, or did you just determine that it would be a good idea?

Also, how can you tell that your "car seems to enjoy it"?

Premixing is supposed to be done using regular 2-cycle oil because it's designed to mix with the fuel (or something) so that it can be ran through the fuel injectors.

I wouldn't run just any oil as pre-mix.

I actually had some jap friends that told me if i can afford it, use 4 stroke only really becuase motorcycle oil has less ditergents so less carbon build up. And only if your car is ported/ moded. I got a street port S5 T2 and i have no problems i change my oil very constantly and the only thing i can tell u is my huge HKS dragger exhuast doesnt smoke and my car revs up nicely and redlines like no other, plus i understand basically lubrication is the key to prolong rotorie life i was just trying to find better oils thats less harmfull to my engine but like i said i came acroos those premix threads so im tempted to try premix

For clarification, it seems that he is using this oil in his crankcase, not as a premix. Correct me if I'm wrong.

"Motorcycle" oil not radically different from "regular" oil. It just has addatives that make it better lubricate the transmission and clutch packs. Here's a thread that explains it:

I don't see the point in paying the extra money for something that's not fundamentally different.

Its actually worse. Motorcycle oil typically do not have friction modifying additives that car motor oil does. This could mean more bearing wear and decreased fuel economy. The reason motorcycles don't have this is that these additives can cause a wet clutch to slip.

I also call bullshit on you saying that it runs better with this oil. Its all in your head.
