4 port is for low compression / boosted engines (better flow from the turbo)
6 port is for high compression / NA engines (better NA torque).

Other than that I get confused on VDI vs 6 port and what RPM both open to allow more flow or better low end torque.

All non-turbo 13B's from '84 up are 6-port. All other rotaries sold in the US have been 4-port.

There was a Japan-market 12A 6-port (carbureted) but we didn't get that here.
