3rd and 4th gear, 6k+ = rattle?

Ok...I dont know what this is but maybe you all can help. 89 T2 with full RB exhaust and FCD. In 1st and 2nd gear, the car pulls hard to 7k, but in 3rd and 4th, at around 6k, Ill get some kinda rattle ( and people behind me said ti was blowing out some black smoke ). It doesnt seem to lose a much power but I cant decide if its me backing off and imagining the power loss, or if it really is losing power. Well anyway, its been doing this for a little while now and tonight after driving it, the car was idling around 500/700. Its a pretty steady miss at idle and if you rev the car up, it sounds fine and doesnt pour out any smoke. Theres some, but no more than Ive seen other 7's produce. So whats the deal? If it was a blown rotor, wouldnt it rev kinda unsteady at higher rpms? Wouldnt it put out some smoke? Wouldnt it backfire or make some weird noise at idle? Could a vacium line have blown off? Could a plug be fouled? PLEASE help me out here.

If you had a blown seal it would struggle to idle.

I guess you should run a compression check and if it turns up fine just start checking stuff in your fuel and ignition systems. It could be a bad injector or a coil.

My car has been giving me problems up top too, but I think it could be that my TPS is out of adjustment.

It doesnt ever come close to dying at idle, it just jumps between 500/700 ... Whats wrong with her?
