3k hesitation...

Before you all say sell your FD and buy an FC. This is on an NA 86 GXL to be exact, and it's only on cold starts during warm up. If I accelerate past 3k rpms before my water temp comes up all the way, the engine will feel like it's losing power, then it will try to gurgle and pop it's way on through the RPM range. Then after it warms up the whole problem goes away... any suggestions?

Oh yeah, this all started after installing an S-AFC, but all settings are stock, everything was installed right, and... well it wasn't like it happened on the first drive with the S-AFC just only noticed it afterwards.

Please only press the submit button once. I and the other mods have better things to do, (like actually answering questions) than to delete 10 other threads and merge another 4.

3k rpm hesitation

Before you all post sell the FD and buy an FC. I'm getting a 3k hesitation/violent throes of death. From my 86 GXL during cold starts. If I try to accelerate through 3k rpms before the car gets warm, it will lose powere and gurgle and sputter sounds like it should be throwing some flames, but nothing happens. This is only when it's cold, once normal operating temp. is reached everything is peachy.

I also installed an S-AFC the other day, a few days before I noticed this problem. But, all the settings are stock, so I don't think the S-AFC could be doing it.

you have to wait till the car gets warmed up to go that high let it sit for a min or so then take it easy till it gets up to temp

Sorry to hijack but I have the same problem that doesn't go away when the engine is warm/hot.

EDIT: Could not having the right settings like 4 cyl, flap type, 5in/5out be the source of having this 3k hesitation?

In my situation, scott 89t2 said that I needed to change it to the correct settings before it will run normal.

You will have to set it to 4cyl, arrow up and to the right, flap type sensor and 5in/5out. I'll post an update tomorrow when I get to drive her. But if it doesn't work, at least we can find out the problem together.
