Question 3800 rpm hesitation

Hi my name is Andrea! I have a major problem with my rx7 ! its a white 89 model with standerd transmission !( 5 speed) But this is the best way I can explain whats happening ---
at about 3800 rpm on full throttle acclearation it falls flat on its face but accelerates strong up to that point But if u just barely acclerate with the throttle pedal just easing up to the 3800 rpm range and just keep slowly increasing the accleration rate it goes past the 3800 rpm barrier up to redline with no problem, but if at any point above the 3800 rpm range u go to wide open throttle it again falls flat on its face!

I need help !

Thanks !

Thumbs up

99.999999999999999% its the infamous "3800rpm Hesitation" problem. Just go to http://www.teamfc3s.org/faq/ and search the "3800" paragraph.

Not that it matters but I agree with THE ACE, but would like to add this link http://www.k2rd.com/FC3S/faq.html and also to say that if its a really severe hesitation, the type that sends you body into the steering wheel type of hesitation under full throttle, then make sure both secondary injector plugs are on their injectors. I know what the normal 2nd generation "hesitation " is, and one day for grins took the secondary injector plugs off completly and put the pedal to the metal. Now thats real hesitation. Face in the steering wheel type hesitation.

if it doesn't even accelerate after 3800, sounds more than just the famous hesitation, like yer secondary injectors aren't working properly.... Check to make sure they are there =) Someone could have jacked em while you were in a movie or something =) Just a thought haha

The easiest way that usually gets rid of the dreaded 3800rpm hesitation is to add a ground wire(8-10gauge will do)from your negative battery terminal to somewhere on your chassis.

lol
mmm..... now I am getting ideas for jokes to play on friends

though as for the hesitation mine was not that bad under full throttle but under part it would stop then get right back up to kicking again
tried the grounding and that helped a little but I noticed it did go away after I put my header and presilencer on the car

I had that absolutely HORRIBLE hesitation that was intermittent in how bad it was but it was always there. I have 3 rx7's, 1 a parts bitch, the other i wrecked but has a strong *** engine, and the third my baby with a bodykit that has the hesitation. I tried ground the pressure sensor to no avail. I also yanked the ECU out of both the other cars and tried them to no avail. I hooked a voltmeter up to the wires that carry the power for the injectors, all were giving me basically ok readings. I replaced the cats which i ended up gutting. It was driving me insane but there was nothing i could do. Then i read on some stupid little website that the grounds from the injectors could be a possible cause and since i was running out of options and ideas i said what the hell i did it. VIOLA!!! it was gone and i had a so much smoother power curve which was great. even if your car isnt hesitating ground the ECU cause Mazda RX-7's have got to have the record the THE WORST grounding job of any car ever built. well thats my 2 cents, hope it helps you out.
