3500 rpm stuck.

Just started my car after its been sitting for a few months. Reinstalled all emissions parts and all new vacuum lines. At first she didn't start but that was due to it being flooded. Was able to unflood the car and get it to start but now the car idles all the way at 3500rpm. I let the car warm up and still stays at 3500rpm. What could be the issue? Tps sensor? Could any of the emission parts cause this problem?

check the throttle first, make sure the throttle aint stuck open. might have some airleaks if a vac hose fell off during install, happens. spray something flamable or wd 40 at the intake to find leaks. yes and the tps can cause issues too. get it set.

The CAS/timing could be well off or it could be the air bypass solenoid in conjunction w/the BAC. This solenoid receives a ground signal on the Brown/Yellow wire for 17 seconds when the car is cold started (there are only two wires connected to this solenoid and the 3500 rpm start up also occurs only when the coolant temp is above 60 or so). So, measure the voltage on the Br/Y wire and see if there is a ground present on the wire after 17 seconds has passed on a cold start or at any time it keeps a high idle, as you have, when the engine was started warm.

Thanks for the helpful tips. Quick update though. Changed my tps sensor and now problem is solved, sort of. Now car idle bounces between 1000 to 1500rpm. How can I get the idle to stay at its normal rpm range?

You could have a vacuum leak. Also, w/the engine idling what happens if you press upwards on the front throttle linkage. Does the idle speed stay the same or does it drop/lower? If it drops then something is causing it to hang up such as the throttle cable being too tight for example. And the Green/Red wire of the TPS needs to be set to 1 volt w/key to on and the engine as hot as it can get but the idle speed needs to be lower than 1100 rpm or so to be able to set it properly.

Well Ive had similar problems and it could be the throttle cable needs adjusting. Fine tuning that could be a real pain if you intend to do it yourself

no idle issue when pressing upwards. Idle stayed the same. Also I installed brand new hoses. No vacuum leaks. Tried setting the tps sensor but not sure if my multimeter is broken (Brand New). I tried all possible directions as to setting tps from various write ups on this forum but still multimeter doesn't turn on. I warmed up the car to its optimal temp. unplugged tps sensor, I tried connecting red prong to green wire and black prong to black ground wire. key was on the ON position and nothing. I tried backprobing the connector too but still nothing. Even connected black prong to negative terminal of the battery and STILL nothing. The hell am I doing wrong!?! So frustrating...

When you use two meter prongs to the TPS plug you are checking for ohms and you never have the key to on when checking for ohms or you can damage the circuit. Secondly, the meter has a battery and perhaps it is dead. You can always test the car battery w/the meter set to DC volts. If that doesn't give you a reading then your meter is either damaged, battery is dead (meter battery and or car battery) or you don't know how to use it.

Well your right. I didn't know how to use it. But I got it to work and reset tps to 1k ohms. Idle is still bouncing. Going to check vacuum lines again. Could the thermowax cause this issue? Also I took off intake and double throttle plates are fully opened. Could that possibly cause this bouncing idle?
