Question 350 V8

I am dropping a Chevy 350 into my '87 RX7. Ive been told to drop a ford 351 into it.. I dont know what to do. I have an 94 Corvette engine and trans. They both will fit its just i need some advise on how it should be done. I know that their is a kit for the job but I cant find it. If anyone has is information on the subject please let me know.

Do the vette motor. It is lighter and won't throw off the handling as much.

putting a piston motor in a rx-7, why would you do such a horrible thing? Rx-7 isn't a Rx-7 without rotors.

RotaryRevn- He wants to do it because he knows what the word TORQUE will do to a 2800lb car with 4:10 gearing......

Double the torque (what most V8's can do with minimal mods) will make the car a monster.... and with suspension upgrades IMO not adversely affect handling.

The Camaro driveline is better suited for the swap due to different accessory layout.... but I'm sure the Vette setup will work great as well.

I say why get an rx7 if eventually you will put a v8 in the car i knwo the torque would be great but you taking away from the whole idea of an rx7. Thats like hotrod guys putting a chevy motor in a ford highboy

It'll cost lots of money to make that vette motor spin to 10K... But 350 lb/ft of torque in my 2400lb car would be a FUN car to drive!

It is cheaper to get 450rwhp out of the boinger. My buddy is putting a 430hp (crank) in his `77 280Z. That'll be pretty fun too. Final price = $3K

Fact of the matter is if you have a 87 with a blown engine, the car is worthless, depending on how crazy you went with a V-8 conversion you can spend less then $2000 or so and have a very fast car on your hands.
Most people simply DO NOT know how to tune a 450Hp rotory, you think you can download a map from Hitman or something and go racing, its not that easy, then good luck if that engine last 10,000 miles.
Some people only want speed so why not bolt a V-8 in there and be done with it, not like these cars will ever be worth anything in our lifetimes.

Not everyone has the money to rebuild their engines or buy a reman and alot of people dont buy the RX-7 because of the rotary engine. People like the looks of the car wether it be a 1st, 2nd or 3rd gen. RX-7. To many it's better to have a piston engine that every mechanic can work on, than have a rotary that one person 50 miles away can fix. When people put a rotary in another car, everybody here loves the car but when someone does the same with a factory rotary powered car, everybody puts them down. We need to grow up here and put ourselves in other peoples situation. Rotary engine or not its still an RX-7.
