Do the vette motor. It is lighter and won't throw off the handling as much.

Here's a link to Grannys speed shop. They should have what you need. If you insist on putting pistons in.

putting a piston motor in a rx-7, why would you do such a horrible thing? Rx-7 isn't a Rx-7 without rotors.

RotaryRevn- He wants to do it because he knows what the word TORQUE will do to a 2800lb car with 4:10 gearing......

Double the torque (what most V8's can do with minimal mods) will make the car a monster.... and with suspension upgrades IMO not adversely affect handling.

Go to the forum section on V8RX7.com to see how to go about doing this swap.
http://www.torquecentral.com/forumdi...php?forumid=11

The Camaro driveline is better suited for the swap due to different accessory layout.... but I'm sure the Vette setup will work great as well.

Good luck.... it is worth the effort.

It'll cost lots of money to make that vette motor spin to 10K... But 350 lb/ft of torque in my 2400lb car would be a FUN car to drive!

It is cheaper to get 450rwhp out of the boinger. My buddy is putting a 430hp (crank) in his `77 280Z. That'll be pretty fun too. Final price = $3K

Fact of the matter is if you have a 87 with a blown engine, the car is worthless, depending on how crazy you went with a V-8 conversion you can spend less then $2000 or so and have a very fast car on your hands.
Most people simply DO NOT know how to tune a 450Hp rotory, you think you can download a map from Hitman or something and go racing, its not that easy, then good luck if that engine last 10,000 miles.
Some people only want speed so why not bolt a V-8 in there and be done with it, not like these cars will ever be worth anything in our lifetimes.

He wants to put a piston engine in an RX-7. Big deal.

Will I ever do this to my car? No.

Not everyone has the money to rebuild their engines or buy a reman and alot of people dont buy the RX-7 because of the rotary engine. People like the looks of the car wether it be a 1st, 2nd or 3rd gen. RX-7. To many it's better to have a piston engine that every mechanic can work on, than have a rotary that one person 50 miles away can fix. When people put a rotary in another car, everybody here loves the car but when someone does the same with a factory rotary powered car, everybody puts them down. We need to grow up here and put ourselves in other peoples situation. Rotary engine or not its still an RX-7.
