3 seater conversion idea.....

I was thinking. With the stock rear seat you have **** room because the FC just is soo small. I was thinking about removing the rear bins and having a single seat installed in the middle of the car. That way the person back there can have one leg on each side to provide a tad more comfort. What do you all think? Plus its just a wierdo thing to try since you don't see many 3 seaters around. Mclauren's aside lol

If only I had skillz with composits I could make it a fiberglass shell to bolt on and then just add some cloth/cushion. I wonder what kind of seat belt could be made for it?

i think if you were actually going to do it the best way would be to mount the seat sideways across the center of the car. This would give you the most leg room

true I wonder if anyone has tried it. It would look funky though. With a sideways seat in the back. hehe But it would be nice when you have that third wheel and your driving the daily driver FC.

Ya there are a handful of trucks that have them. A sideways seat would be better, but still not very comfy.

I think its a "ricer" mod anyways...

Think of it this way, Santiago. You're faster with two seats than you are with a stupid looking race bucket in the back, mmk? You don't need a third seat.

I guess my motto started getting contagious lol.

I know it will add weight. And I didn't say anything about a racing bucket. I did say its a wierdo thing to do. I just thought it was a nice idea to throw out there. And there were times during which I drove my sport which didn't have the 2+2 option on it that I needed to hawl a pair of friends around because their car broke down or something. Its a bit dangerous driving people around while sitting on the rear bins. There is no restraint system back there unless you have the 2+2 seats/belts.

But if I were to hold it up to my rice standard it would be evaluated as worthless therefore rice. So yeah.

I think the prob would be that their seat would be riding on top of the tranny tunnel. So, their seat would be about two feet higher than the front seats. So, your third seater would have to be about 4 feet tall to sit in the seat with out wacking their head. Dude, your still buzzing on the sprite arent you

haha I didn't get a buzz from it. it just feels like ****. Plus I remember seeing the three seat design in the F1 and I thought it was a nice way to add passenger space in a small car. But yeah the seat would be on the tunnel unless mounted sideways.

Having a person in the middle would probably obstruct your view.

I've got an interesting idea A strange changed to something already posted... Sideways seat would leave the most leg room... But man, those tall people (and average sized...haha) would be doubled over in the seat..... Sideways seat.... On it's back.... So they lay back/down, and have their legs either behind the bottom of the seat.. Or are curled up in a ball somewhat....

True, this wouldn't work really well.. And it wouldn't be good if you floored it unless they had some kind of side brace, or had the seat tilted a bit.... But I thought it was a pretty crazy seeming idea I'd love to ride in a seat like that for the shear humor of it.
