I need new exhaust... i want to do it all out.. but i mean 3"! I dont even have 3 inch on my hotrod... it dosent need it.

i know turbo cars are different, but the 2.5 inch stuff is cheaper... hi flo cats on ebay for $40, all kinds of universal mufflers for cheap.. hell ill prob still go with the n1's tho.

but yea... so is a 2.5 DP gonna give me the performance to be able to run ~10 pounds of boost?
is so ill go 2.5 the whole lenght of the car.. if it needs to be 3 then well ill have to do 3 the whole way...

p.s. porting the waste gate looks like fun

I really think the .5" does make a lot a diffrence especially with turbos. I have a 3" dp to 2.5 mid then the N1. My turbo spools so fast i can hear it all the time when driving normaly. The main disadvantage to this is the fact the turbo spools so much then you gotto worry about boost creep. So consider that. Perhaps going with 2.5 will limit it a little more and you wont have as much boost creep. But its all in the goals you have set. If you want maximum boost youd have to go as much as possible all the way and that would be 3".

but a 3"DP run to a 2.5 mid? is that doin all it should do.. seems like a choak point..

if it will work ok like that i'll get the 3" dp and maybe run 2.5 lines and cat.

The whole creep thing is solved by porting your waste gate right?

i read this thread and and it looked like loads of fun (HA!) but it needs to be done.

3" to 2.5" is bad i wasent saying you should do this its just what i have right now. The reason i did this was the N1 starts out at 2.5 then flares out so the 2.5" midpipe works with that. As far as boost creep that thread is awsome. Its what i followed the only thing is that dp mod is really a good idea but you need that dp. Porting really helped me i was hitting 14psi in all gears with my stock turbo then i upgarded to the s5 and ported it a lot now i hit at the most 11 psi. Im going to improve that later though as soon as i have some time. Good luck dude

get the 3'' dp. If you want you could just fabricate your own midpipe that was 3'' as well and just take it 3'' all the way back.

Porting the wategate isn't that bad. The biggest PITA is taking the stock heatshields off. Once they are off the turbo removal is pretty easy job, and porting the wastegate isn't too bad at all, just a little tedious.

my setup will (probably, unless I get ANOTHER catback) be: 3" DP to 3" MP to 3"->2" Y Pipe to dual 2". By the Y pipe i mean it will be a three inch pipe with two two inch pipes hopping off.

Dont play if you dont wanna pay.
hi flo cats on ebay for $40
Youll melt those in an hour or two...
all kinds of universal mufflers for cheap..
Youll melt those in 4 or 5 hours.

I went with 3. When you look at it, it doesnt cost much more at all. Plus it stops me from having to redo it later if I step upto a huge turbo.

Any exhaust shop should be able to do the work if you supply the 3" dp, that's the tough part of the job. Because they need a mandrel bander for that. But after the 3" DP everything is fairly simple.
