3,000 rpm IDLE & Funky clutch/acceleration
Ok I have a S5 nonturbo with a recently bought rebuilt motor with 12k miles (has good compression, or at least 6 good pulses through poor man's comp test) that's been idling at 3000 rpms with a small blip to 2900 and back to 3000 when fully warm, but through search, i found that, on 3rd gens it seems, there's supposed to be a vacuum plug for the pcv nipple (or that's what the person who found this problem said) on the UIM. After searching around, i did find a plug on the ground in my garage, but the problem is, where does this plug go? I know there's a plug on the LIM on the left of the 2 tubes, where the right tube goes to the pressure sensor, but I'm not sure if the 2nd and 3rd gens have these same vacuum tubes that are to be plugged. I was wondering if anyone knew where this vacuum plug goes to?
Also, I bought a new stock clutch system (PP, clutch, pilot bearing, t/o bearing) for the car with an aluminum flywheel, and I notice that when I put load on the engine, the rpms would bounce and try to stagger up the rpms. It is less so pass 3-4k. I also hear a "whurr" near or inside the transmission when this is happening. Since if the clutch is slipping, the engine shouldn't be having any problems revving so I was wondering if a mis-installed clutch can cause this? Or can the idle/vacuum leak problem be related to this? When I dropped the motor in, I did so with relative ease so I do not think I damaged anything. Any input would be greatly appreciated

I don't know about your clutch, but if you want to adjust your idle there's a screw on the top of your throttle body that can be used for basic idle adjustment.

Hmm i don't think the TPS would cause such a crazy idle would it? The engine prior to this one idle'd fine with the same tps. I swapped the throttle body and made sure nothing was tampered with. I also don't have any meters to check for the TPS voltage so that may be a small problem. (i'm no good at electronics). I'll also check the accelerator cable but I SERIOUSLY doubt that that is the problem. I seriously think that vacuum leak is the main culprit because I have, in my hand, a vacuum plug that has popped off. Oh and the "whurr" sound is only heard when there is engine load and when the the rpms is staggering.

Well, I used the screw at the top center of the throttle body to adjust my idle from 750 to 2500(overshot it) and back to 1500, so I imagine that that little screw can actually affect your idle speed quite a bit.

I have messed around with my TPS but without porper tools i don't think i can do much... from what I understand, tightening the screw would bring the idle down correct?
also
my wiring harness came off of my old engine so the fuel injectors are stock. I have a really small vacuum hose plug just itching to be plugged back in, I was just wondering if anyone knew where this plug went? I've looked around my engine to no avail....maybe i'm just not looking hard enough...and plus it's 1 am in the morn

Sorry I'm kinda tired, but I know for sure the injectors are fine. They came directly off the blown engine into the rebuilt one. But even if i did have larger injectors, wouldn't it only cause it to run richer, not cause the idle to go up?

Nobody knows which vacuum tubes are usually capped? I'm dead sure it's a vacuum tube not being capped, which is causing the massive vacuum leak and 3000 idle. Can a vacuum leak also affect the car from starting, thus flooding the engine?
