2nd Gen. Drifting question.

Im in the market to buy a 2nd gen. Fc. I currently have a Nissan Z31 and was looking for something lighter. How good is a Fc3s Turbo at Drifting. Is it worth it to buy an Fc?

S13 is the way to go. FC is to short, and harder to control.

yea i would agree i started with an S13 and they have got to be the easiest car to learn to drift in. my 7 now is a little harder to control but alot more fun than the nissan.

Where im at in Hawaii everyone has an s13. I want to be different. I hear 7's are a good drift car but as you said a little harder to controll if you dont have the right setup and suspention. Do you all drift? I have a 1988 Nissan 300zx/z That I just bought but want to sell it for an fc if i can get a good turbo 2 model. What you all think?

a 300z is about right to start in. loads of toruqe a fairly longer wheel base that is easier to control.

yea true but i just had my alternator replaced for $500 and it has an oil leek. I just bought it to. Im just looking at my options. I love the styling of the fc's and i know the power is right. I want to either trade or sell my Z if it ends up having more problems.

Dont get a s13, everyone and their mom has a 240. RX7s are fine for drifting if you learn how to do it. People be hating, just get the FC and drift into the sunset!

my experience from driving Z's is they are not o smuch harder to control but its a fairly heavy car and is can get away from you easily. but yea like he said it has been covered alot.most people on this forum hate drifting and i dont really know why. probably because they dont want 240 guys like my self comming over and getting into rx7's and making them super mainstream like the 240 is now, but o well. anyways like i said before. seems your just starting to drift, i would recomend getting a S13 and heres why. while learning your going to break parts on your car, get a car that is common in your area so u can get them easily, and trade with other people. and the main reason is because drifting an S13 is as easy as stealing sweet sweet candy from a baby.

the 7 is bad choice for drifting, underpowered, or the turbo model will be more likely to break and cause problems.. get a new car with a long wheel base, oh yeah take our ******* advice, just becase, being diffrent is not imported, if it was then people would say hey all other airplanes use METAL wings and propellers to fly, well i wanna be diffrent so i am going to use cheese as wing b/c its tasty, yeah ******* right.

+1 Don't get me wrong. I've owned both cars. But 240's are the way to go for a drift car. NA 2.4 liters and good bottom end power. Better than NA 13B's. Plus, there is way much more aftermarket support that the parts are cheaper than FC's. They are a dime a dozen. So say you snap your LCA or something, chances are you will be able to find that part at your nearest junkyard. Hope that helps.

haha yea thats what i head. Nice way to put it. The thing is, im tired of looking at 240's. Ive been wanting one ever since 2 years ago. I love the style and how it drifts, but it became so popular that now everyone has one even in Hawaii where i just moved from. I have a Drift team there. It consist of a 240 and a ae86. I want to have something hardly anyone has down there so i was thinking rx7. But yea im new at drifting. Heres what i think. The car that you learn to drift in is the car your always going to know most about.

Ok i c what you all are saying. I have to give it more thought. Well my Z is in the shop so it will be a while anyway. Just a thought. How much hp and torque will you get with a T11 with intercooler, upgraded turbo, intake, blowoff valve and exhaust?

BOV and turbo timers don't add HP. I can tell you that from first hand experience.

PS Try drifting.com

I dont happen to think the FC is particularly hard to drift, but whatever. Horsepower upgrades will help you with longer slides, but its not going to solve all your problems.

personally i dont mind the fact that it's harder to drift a 7...just because it's harder doesnt mean its worse...just forces you to be a better driver...and i like the challange...i dont like to take the easy way

Shorter wheelbase=more likely a chance for the car to go around you if you arnt careful. Its harder because it takes more concentration and a good feeling for you car.
