2nd Gen Buyer's tips/Solo2 race car
I'm searching for a 2nd gen RX-7 for Solo2 racing and interested in any buying tips/opinons you folks have. What I am looking for is power and control. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a turbo model in my area for the last year.
Now, I'm looking into getting a good running car that I can use to compete in Solo2 and tossing in the turbo/suspension/rims etc. btw, i'm planning on keeping it a street legal daily driver.
Now that I set my parameters, what year and trim(ie gxl) should I look for?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure why you want a turbo on it. The N/A is a very good solo2 car for the money. You can do some suspension work, put on a header and intake and compete very well on a local/regional level. Get the lightest car you can find, i.e. NO power windows, sunroof, AAS, etc.

I'd want the 89+ base model (GTU?) or, of course, the famed but rare GTUs. Then again, make sure you get a car with the 5-lug wheels/4 piston brakes and an LSD...
The older cars are down a bit in HP vs. the last couple years.
With a good sorted car, you can be competative in local/regional events given your local club has no *real* hot shoes in an MR2 or something...

agreed, the turbo won't be terribly useful in solo2. I wanted the turbo cause I always wanted one.
right now I'm running a accord in FSP so a turbo for the vehicle is out of the question until the end of this season.
much thanks folks, I'll do some searchs
