245's on Lincoln LSC 16X7 Speedlines?

I know several people are running these speedlines on their cars...I'm just curious about widths of tires being run on them. I can get 245's for the backs and 225's for the front. Since I can't find any reference of the LSC's offset it's hard to know ahead of time and I would like to have an idea before I start spending money.

Thanks

245 is a big no no on a 7" wheel. Even 225 is pushing it and looks kind of meaty. 245s would look retarded and isn't recommended. Stock S5 TII wheels are 16x7s with 205s btw for reference.

I would take the rears to a machine shop and have them widened 1 inch and then run the 245s.

Not running them because I want 245's back there...running them because they're cheap and I need something to get the car going and checked out before I put the good tires on her. People run 245's on these wheels all the time...so long as they don't hit the suspension or the fender, they'll do for now.

on a 7 inch wheel that is not to smart i am running a 245 on a 17x7.5 the tire fits really good due to its over sized rim protector lip. i didi this so i could fit 245's at each corner so i can rotate the tires to.

the tire will flex so bad it will not help at all

Speedline (LSC) wheels will not clear the front calipers without a spacer. They need about 1/8 of an inch or so to clear...How do I know...?

Also the ones I had came with 225/60/16 (oem size for the LSC)

Are those the 225/60's shown?

Keep in mind, though, you have 4-piston calipers...my crappy N/A calipers should clear okay.

Do you have any other pictures of the car with the 60's? Does it rub in the rear? I may try to run 60's just because I can get them for a dime a dozen here but no one has 50's. The 245's are out, though...they was shoddy, at best, and no way going to last on the road.

No rubbing, I only had clearance issues in the front with the brakes... otherwise bolt and go with 225/60's

Thanks maestro...I'll run the 60's for a bit, then. They'll clear up some of that wheel-gap haha.

while it's not particularly helpful, the LSC Speedline wheels (not the BBS ones...don't know the difference) weigh in at 40lbs with 225/60 16 Bridgestone Potenza tires.

Curiosity begs...I got a lead on a set of Firestone Firehawks for $70 (all four)...but they're 195/55 16. Anyone got any opinions about them on a 7" wheel?

that would be a mild stretch, but would look pretty good!

That's the only part I'm concerned with...I know that a 195 would have to stretch to fit a 7" wheel, which would bring it's overall height down. They're already nearly 1/2" shorter than stock. I suppose we'll see...I'll likely go ahead and jump on them.

Worst case you don't like them and you have to sell the tires.. BTW have you tried mounting them on the front without a spacer yet? I am hoping they clear the calipers.. I am trading off my 15x6.5 mesh wheels for my old LSC's back and now that I have a N/A bodied car I hope the smaller calipers will clear...

Ok they're crappy pics but pics all the same. I'm thinking I might actually go ahead and run with the taller tires...if I could lower the car just a bit it'd look decent. I'd have to lower the car quite a bit to close the gap on the 195's. I can get a pair or 225/60's and a pair of 225/55's for $50. When it comes to new tires I'll just run with 55's.

The front caliper clears with LOTS of room. I actually can't see even the TII calipers having issues but I don't know really. There were several variants of this wheel in a couple of different offsets. The LSC had what you see here, while the continental had a wider stepped lip. The Grand Marquis also had the stepped lip, but had a +5mm different offset. Then there was the few years in there that FMC actually had BBS make the wheels which had identical spokes but a slightly different lip and who knows how the ID's of the wheels varied.

I can tell you that stock lugs will not work. MKII P-Type Supra lugs are perfect. I'm going to look up Mustang lugs shortly and see if they have the same pitch...they'd be the best bet. These wheels are NOT hubcentric.

Anyway...

I'm going to take some better pictures after the sun moves a bit...there was HUGE glare...
