I went on a road trip, I calculated for having large tires, and I got 27mpg. Good stuff. And that was at about 2.9k all the way down.

Funny, robert I get 11.111111 mpg, no matter what I do. I've got a FMIC tuned stock ecu and a t3/t4 turbo @ 15psi. So that probably doesn't help me. Plus I can't live without hearing a blow-off valve between shifts.
I'm doomed.

About 20 miles (one way) and more than 80% is on the highway I think. I usally go 2800-3000 rpm on the highway. I thought running lower rpm (like around 2500 rpm) helped gas milage but it acutally did not.

Outch, I'm seeing 20 when driving the **** out my 87 base which has a street ported block and ported intake. Freeway mpg is upper 20s, and this is on the stock (rich) ecu but with advanced timing.

That's probably why your numbers are not close to mine... I am speaking of 300 Mile trips.

Keep in mind that the 88 vert was the only manual 5 speed FC that came with a 3.9 differential. This made Highway crusing speeds at a lower RPM than all the 4.1's out there.
I'm sure running eighty mph is killing the mileage.

Next time I go on a hundred+ mile trip I will try to keep the top up and the speed under 70. I'd be interested in seeing if I can get over 27.

Wow, in 200K I have never gotten mileage that bad. I wonder if your catalitic converter is clogged.

I have no idea how many miles I get anymore, because my odometer just clicks and doesn't move. I backfire alot now that I have straight through exhaust too.
For not being my everyday driver, I sure have to fill it up alot. LOL

Just got a new(to me) speedo cluster in, but have to install it. Then I'll be able to tell you what mpg I get.
