20th Anniversary FC Speculation and Fantasizing

ok this may sound odd and crazy but i was thinking about this long and hard, and well how great would it be if mazda decided to re-introduce the FC back into the market as a special anniversary edition, you know everthing would be updated except for the basic fundamentals, aka the body, engine, interior.

but it would have a modern touch, aka digital readings, updated ecu, better sensors, more power, you know anything you wished it had.

who would buy it?

and of course the infamous, which would you rather see the s4 model come out or the s5? (were talking mostly body here but performance could be brought in it too)

Little late for a 20 year since the car was first made in 1985 as a 1986 model.

yea i thought about that long to and just decided to go with a random number the first number that came to my head was 20 only because my car is 20 years old (87) the number isnt the important part though(hell if you want you can change it, it doesnt matter, and you have the power to)

the important part is the idea

i would say, same body... 3 rotor powerplant, updated interior, ms-01 with big dish ... modern suspension ie; double wishbone instead of.... trailing arm...

a REAL six speed or seven speed if possible gearbox, keep the weight as close to 2500lbs as possible...

what a dream.

mazda would have to re-tool their assembly line to make a "new" run of cars so its realistically out of the question although i've dreamed many times of a special release of brand new s4's straight from the factory.

for an anniversary edition FC, i'd say Mazda should release it with an updated version of the 20B. The way the 10th AEs were supposed to be released.

Thats kind of what we are all doing here; modifying our cars with more modern and updated parts.

Only upside to your idea would be getting all the new equipment at a ~5% interest rate.

When China is hailed as a democratic model, countries are envious of Africa's low disease rates, and the rest of the world loves America, that might have a slim chance of happening...

A more likely scenario would be to do as Nissan did...they bought up some original release Z's (1970) and then factory restored them and sold them through dealers.

From what I understand they could barely give 'em away.

It would take so much effort to get the FC chassis up to modern standards regarding crash safety, handling and comfort that it might as well be an entirely new car.

What I'd like to see is Mazda release another RX-7 as a 4th gen, but don't screw it up like the RX-8 or FD. Stick with a two seat sports car, use a three rotor side port engine in NA form and release two versions: the typical GT style with power everything, leather, all the luxury stuff, and then a stripped down "sport" version with better suspension, cloth interior, manual everything and more power.

Wait why does everyone prefer the S4 body? I thought most liked the S5? Seeing as everyone does the S5 taillight conversion.

S4 are better built, less cheapness in materials and are more reliable. And this is based on experience, and facts, not something I heard.

my $.02 is that they match with their time period and htings that can't be changed like the door frames or hood line just match up and fit with the styling. The stock S5s look like something aftermarket to me already, then there's those weird auto seat belts.
