dre_2k. that is the best place for the girls..

back when i was a kid my dad had a set of those in his 86 gxl. small as hell.. when i got into highschool i hated riding in the back.. those seats are definatly not made for full size people, but none-the-less they can be useful at times.

Ain't people weird - the first thing I did when I got my 87 n/a was to rip out the UNUSED back seats and bought a set of storage bins from the local wrecker for $50. It never occured to me that someone would actually want the things, so I cut the cloth panels off them and used the cloth to cover the lids of the storage bins to match the door panels and front seats - the rest went to the dump. Now I find I could probably have sold the things - go figure!

Rip em out. You don't need them. I know if I had to ride in the back of your car I would rather sit on the storage bins, atleast those are reasonably level.

Damn that's the perfect size for a Even-flo baby car seat. Nah, I wouldn't drive the way it was mean't if baby huey was in there, and that pretty much kicks me out of the carpool lane during rush hours.

I just put a back seat in my car for this same reason. I have a 1 yr old and a 2 yr old. Their car seats fit perfectly. It was either that or trade the car in on a family sedan. I did keep the bins and all the carpet so in case I do sell the car, the new owner can take their pick of set up.

I have a backseat in the good old GXL. It is pretty sweet.
I have my amp screwed to the back of the backside of the seat, and my subwoffers fit perfectly flush between the shock towers and against the back seat back and on top of that I use the straps to hold them in place. I could go through an auto-X and everything would still be in place

I have my cupholder on the seat bucket which is secured by the seatbelt. Yes I'm very innoviative

plus if I ever need to let the amplifier cool down I just fold the back seat down, it is all good.

Yeah I need a back seat for that reason. That way I don't have to drive my Protege.

Woah. 46 votes and it's 23/23. Damn, anyone know how much extra weight the back seats add? They can't possibly effect performance, can they?

I just made the switch last week. I didn't weigh everything, but I have a rough guesstimate. The back seat was surprisingly light. My guess is it added less than 20 lbs.

Look at it this way, 20lbs is equivalent to about 3 gallons of gas in your tank. Plus, the weight is low and in the back.

Performance difference in the cars?......Maybe a driver as skilled as Michael Schumacher could tell a difference, but I doubt it.

So those of you w/o rear seats, is it ever an inconveinience? Do you wish you had rear seats (for other than the purpose of a child seat)?

Also how bad is it for the suspension when you have 450+ lbs. in a 350lbs. capacity car?

Thanks for all the help

The easy solution?

Don't have kids. That way you won't have to worry about soiling your sports cars with child seats.

I can't stand kids, so I won't be having any, ever.

But yeah, good choice on yankin' the back seats. Let the slackers fend for themselves if they need a ride.

54 votes and still 50/50

I don't like the back seats, but it sucks cause I can't drive anyone around.
Oh well, I can still borrow my sis's Intrepid.
