1st Gen Dakota alt on a s4?

I had a weird idea on the way home today, I remembered that my 90 dakota alternator is designed alot like the 7's, so I looked up pictures, and it looks like all I'd have to do is cut the plug off, and wire on round terminals, than extend the hot wire for the battery. I haven't gone out and done measurements yet (to cold) but off the pictures, seems the only other issue may be size? This been done before? I did some searching but didn't come up with anything

Be nice since the alternator is a 90 amp, and I have one sitting around thats good.....somewhere

I can see why, having one in hand, you would be interested but there are easier known ways to get 90A, so I doubt anyone else has tried this particular unit before.

Just offhand, the main battery cable connection looks awkwardly placed but you could probably work around that if necessary.

Ya i gotta find it. I'm just contemplating ideas cause the s4 alt is weak, but i'm having a hard time justifying getting s s5 or s6 alt cause i just replaced mine 2 years ago, and it barely has any miles on it. I'll do some measuring at least in case someone else also get curious

These also come with dual V belt pulleys. Not that it makes a difference, since the pulley can be put on a RX7 alt anyway.

That was my other reasoning, since new double pulleys are usually 30-50 new

Nada, just have plans for a small sound system in it, and i know the s4 alt is already at its limit with the stock electronics, don't wanna make it worse

Mainly wondered if its been done since dodge used the same alternator design from the 60s to the early 90s, and i have one laying around........somewhere

It would probably fit. Many Dodge/Chysler models used Mitsubishi alternators as do FC's.
