Actually, I first gen with a suspension kit and a hopped up TII motor would be really fun to autocross!! but given the choices, i chose the 2nd gen!

the reason why I think an FB would AUTOCROSS better than an FC is because it is LIGHTER.

Autox has man short & sharp turns, much weight transition & etc
the more weight you have to throw around, the more unbalanced your car will be and reaction time will be slower

FC's are good autox cars but I think an FB would be better
but put an FC vs FB on a ROADCOURSE....i'd say FC would get the thumbsup there

Anyone who says FC is a dumbass!!!! I have both and autocross both. Check my sig.... Anyways the s4 that i autocross is HEAVY, and it just doesn't have the tail end steering the LIGHTER fb's do. I have a stripped FB and it hauls ***. The Fc on the otherhand feels very "piggish" and is not as responsive in the corners. The FC is very forgiving steering wise and the FB is not as forgiving, But I feel that a FB will be more fun and it gets more people interested in your car because it is a lot more unique looking......There are a ton of 240sx and 944's that autocross and the FC kinda blends into the croud.. On the other had the fb will get sideways will be unpredictable and Will rear end steer with it's solid rear axle...Just good fun. Take it from someone who has done it both ways.. And BTW Turbo's are NOT IDEAL in autox....ONLY SEEN one successful turbo car run and it was a miata, turbo's are for the Drag strip... Most autox courses are set up to keep you under 65 mph and usually when someone is running a turbo out there it kicks in right before a corner when they are trying to break and RRRRRRR! big smokey Donut or a hailstorm of cones... My .02

very true about the turbo RRTEC. the only real problem with the fb is the crappy steering system. no road feel, and really sloppy. maybe if you get an fc manual rack and swap it in to the fb, you could kick major tail. is it hard keeping the carbs in tune?

yeah the "rock and stick" I mean recirculating ball..lol..steering leaves much to be desired....I am always cranking the wheel one way then another...but to answer the carb question..NO. The only thing i find is that if i tune before i go and on the way my runs are better...Oh yeah and when i autocross the 2nd gen i always have a certian problem he 1st gen doesn't have....Sloshy gas tank! FC will slosh so much the Fuel pump hit's dry spots (every on 3/4 of a tank!) and i loose power for a second...then when it gets gas again i loose control because the naural instinct when the car cuts out is to hit the gas more! an rrrrr I'm sideways when the tires catch power again.. Never happens in the FB....

*** out is the only way to autox and still have fun.....j/k But I have fun in both. Buy whichever is cheaper and just beat the hell out of it on the track....(it helps to know someone with a trailer.....) Called one to many tow trucks in my day... Invest in a trailer or a car dolly at least if you are really going to get into it...
