Good news: Battery charged.
Bad news: Utterly and completely lost now... I unplugged the starter kill relay and the starter still turns in the "ON" position... WTF??
I DID identify the starter kill relay correctly, right? Wire colors you all have mentioned above are slightly different, but I'm hoping that's just a 91 thing.

I did win the auction for the 91 FSM, so maybe that will reveal something. Bottom line, I've got a rat's nest now and have no idea how to fix it. Unless there are any other great ideas, I'll have to just study the diags in the FSM and trace every stinkin' wire as far as it will take me and let me... Making sure all colors match, etc.

I can tell this is going to be a long, painful winter... *sigh*

Any and all help has been appreciated... If nothing else, at least now I know my way around some of these circuits a little better. I'll keep you all posted...

Hey there. I don't have your year diagrams, but as a favor, could you go to your fuse box in the car, and, looking straight at the fuse box, go to the third row from the bottom, and pull the first fuse to your left. Should be a 10a fuse saying ANTENNA/IG. After you pull it, what happens when you turn the key to on?????

I look at the 89 manual diagram, and the starter cut relay has six sockets. From left to right, first hole is empty, next hole is B/G, next hole is B/G, bottom left is B/W, next hole empty and the last hole is Lg/Y. Good luck with the new manual.

Hailers, tried the fuse thing. Still starts in the "ON" position. In fact just for kicks I tried all fuses -- no difference. In fact, I tried all fuses both with the starter cut relay both in and out. Which believe it or not makes me a little happy because the Air Bag fuse use to make a difference... At least now I know it has nothing to do with specific fuses that having nothing to do with the starting system...
