I have a tii swap s5 gtu and want to relocate the battery to the back I haven't looked into but am wondering what will it take to move the battery to the compartment behind the passenger seat.
I would recommend a circuit breaker to be installed when you relocate the battery.
Also, study the electrical diagram for the starting circuit and main fuse/power circuits. There is normally a separate wire that comes off the battery to the main fuse block to power those accessories as well as wiring for the alternator charging circuit. Unless you want to use a battery charger every so often to keep your battery alive.
Most circuit breakers wear out.. I can't tell you how many of the V8 guys have had problems caused by circuit breakers. Again, there is a reason OEMs don't put circuit breakers on their cars.
Ok I won't run breakers. Could I just but connect the new cable into the factory cables ?
I would recommend running new battery cable as the factory cable tends to dry out and get corroded. Welding wire is a great alternative to battery cable and is a ton more resistant to grease/oil/heat/etc over standard battery cable.
I've got 30 feet of 2 gauge welding wire. If I was to get rid of the factory battery terminal wires , where would I put the new cables on the starter and main power relay?
