1987 Fc3 Engine Question

Hello again everyone I was just wondering, what is the biggest RX-7 engine that would fix in my fc3. I know you can fit any engine with enough mods but I just want to know what engine I can install that will give me good hp and tq. Price I am not really worried but I just need a few engine ideas. Thanks for you time.

You may want to try posting in the Other Engine Conversion section. This section is not very friendly for those wanting to swap in a different engine as 98% of us love our rotary engines and feel it is blasphemy to swap another engine into it.

or! Money is no problem? Go with a 4 rotor. You want big, you'll have it.

Sorry for the confusion that is not what I ment. I mean another rx7 engine with turbo that will fit in my car. Like a 89 13B TT would that fix in my car. I was asking about rx-7 engines that would fix.

The "biggest" RX-7 engine is still a 13B. All 13Bs will fit, with fabrication. Some are easier then others. All 2nd gen 13Bs bolt right in. The 13B-REW from the FD requires fabrication of engine mounts, as does the 13B RE (but that's not an RX-7 engine).

There is no such thing as an '89 13B TT.

you can, but 13bt is more reliable, and will probably last longer,

The short answer is that yes, you can.

However it requires fabrication of most nearly everything to make it run. You'll need to fabricate engine mounts, the exhaust system, convert to a single turbo, fabricate intercooler pipes, oil lines and a load of misc stuff. You'll also need a full standalone EFI system to run it, big injectors, decent sized fuel pump, etc.

It's far from a bolt in.

Not including the engine, budget about $10,000 for the project if you do 90% of the work yourself.

like Aaron said the " biggest" rx-7 engine is the 13b. If you mean the biggest rotary engine then it would be the four rotor. I suppose with some fabricating skills you can make anything fit.

Id say just stick with what you should have. A 13BT and be done with it. An REW wont net you enough of a gain IMO to warrent the cost of the swap. By the time you swap in a fully stock REW, you could have already gotten your BT up to 350-400whp. Just my $.02
