the top rad hose was hot, but the rad was cool. idk. and i dont know if the aux port were working that could be one prob. I also dont think he was used to the sticky track on a manual sence he drive a 97' Grand am auto for a daily. we would have been able to make more passes if it didnt **** the cooling all over the track. I plan on taking my TII up to the track and making some passes to get a base line befor i do my 12psi setup, but thats off topic. he could have very well knocked 2-3sec's off w/ a good start, we are prolly gonna go throught the entire cooling system and check the aux ports this weekend.
PS he bought the car form a guy that put most of the stuff on there and got sick of it not starting so we got it for 900 bucks w/ only 83,XXX miles. So there is a stong posiblity that the aux'ers wernt working, and i'm a turbo guy i dont know how you hook them up, i know were they are, that they open port 5 and 6, and work w/ the exhaust some how, but thats all i know about them could you help me?

O yeah, and its got a LSD out of a GXL, a newer wiring harness, all new vac lines, and the TPS is good we tested it.
I also thought it was going to run any were from a mid 15 to a low 17, but an 18 was way slow i thought.

you shouldve got a vid of this, if it takes hella long for him to get out of first gear then its his aux ports. mine arent working and im waiting on my RB header and presilencer to finally fix it as the air pipe isnt even on. someone chopped it off when putting on an ebay muffler.

Hahahahahahahaha. Ted you hating on n/a's? Non-turbo owners should expect to hit a 15 or 16 with there car if they have it in good shape and well maintained. I ran 2 runs with a broken differential mount and a 2.6, yes 2.6 60 ft time. I was only launching at 2500 rpms because of the loud thud i would hear scared me and i still hit a 16.7 @ 83 mph. Now if you are saying us non-turbo owners can't make it into the 15's you are smoking the rock or hating. I recently found out 4 months ago that i didn't even have my aux ports working when i went to the track. With my solid differential mount and my car running to its full potential, i can easily make my car run solid 15's. So Ted, stop hating because you are a turbo guru. Just my 2 rotor cents.
This is my experience when I used to watch non-turbo FC's down here.
None of them broke into the 15's.
They were lucky if they could crack a 16.
Like I've mentioned before, I seen a pair of non-turbo FC's lay down 16.9's all night long.
Both cars had full exhausts and intakes - basic bolt-on's.
I've seen dozens of non-turbo FC's run anywhere from 17.x up to 19.x all night long.
Since you think I'm hatin'...
I've run a 17.0xx with my FC turbo on this same track.
The car had basic bolt-on's - full exhaust and intake.
Yes, that's a pathetic time for an FC turbo, but I remember that run.
Initially, I used to run in the 16's until I got my drag technique better.
The car used to run consistent mid to low 15's after that.
This was before I knew about the nasty camber in the rear after dropping the suspension.
Those runs were also done on street tires at street pressures.
60' times were in the 2.3xx to 2.4xx range - shitty at best.
So...
I don't see anything wrong with the OP mentioning a car that runs in the 18's.
What kinda rear tires were they running?
What about tire pressures?
How good of a launch?
I don't think 60' times were mentioned yet.
TOO sticky a track as an excuse?
Typical street tires at street pressures, 60' times in the 2.3...maybe 2.2 range is about right.
Unless you've got very good drag launch technique, you're not going to get much better.
Someone with little or no drag experience will probably run in the 2.5 to 2.6 range.
Sure, it's nothing to be proud about, but those are the numbers I typically see.
Oh, and you run with a 2.6 60' time and still managed to hit a 16.7 @ 83mph with a 2,500RPM launch?
I call bullshit, unless you're not running a stock motor...
Numbers like that would make your car a 14-second potential 1/4-mile time if the launch was close to perfect.
So how modded was your non-turbo FC?

Above the exhaust manifold, you can see the two actuators. Follow the tube down to the exhaust pipe. Make sure it's all hooked up and there's no obvious holes.

Here's a link to my thread about my first drag experience back 4 years ago when I was 18 and still a rotor noob. Why would I lie? I think I might go back out to the track tomorrow night. Just so I can make a faster run and I'll video tape it. Since that run I have fixed my broken differential mount, along with putting a lsd from a gxl in it. (this alone should shave a solid sec off my time), stock injectors back in secondaries, removed emmisons, along with the cone filter and mindtrain headers that were already on in first run. Some super modded n/a huh. O yeah stock 20 year old suspension with street tires at 32 psi. All im saying is if your non-turbo FC is well maintained there is no reason you shouldn't see solid 16's if you can drive. Of course we are forgetting things like track conditions, weather, altitude. These alone can cause seconds of differences in time.

yeah, he really was blowing chunks on the take offs, and missed third on the second run. but he rarely drives a manual, and when he does its this car. he had like some wore out old as low prows on his aftermarket 16" wheels. the camber is way off in the rear (looks like /--\ just not that bad). I told him to slide out on the clutch but he just droped it. It also seemed like it took forever to get through 1st and second gear so the aux'ers prolly werent working, we'll prolly be taking back down to the strip next week. We'll both line up fc3s, my TII against that N/A.

unless the car is fully built NA it still wont pass into the 14's. 16 is about the best an NA can do stock and thats if its in mint condition.
My friends car was stripped down to about 2400 pounds 87? GXL (no interior, no luxeries, vert wheels, coilovers, intake/heat shield, 2 1/2 inch custom exhaust with stock cats and aftermarket header, most maintenence up to date, and 4 gallons of gas in the tank). I think he said he ran a 15.6.
