2 mo'

i have 2 more questions.what kind of stand do u put a 13b on? will it mount on a traditional roticery(cant spell) how long did it take u guys to knock out your first rebuild?and finally is it hard to port your own housings?because i also wanna buy porting template from RB and try to port the housing.hell while i have the engine apart i might decide to try and port the upper/lower intake manifold.

porting is a piece of cake... I would totally go for it! The 13b wont fit on a traditional engine stand, because as you know with a rotary you have to stack it on from the bottom up, err or something like that.. anyhow.. i think you can make an adaptor or something... if you know how to weld.

Only thing that is a piece of cake and a certainty is making a working engine into a door stop and a conversation piece

if you dont know what your doing or have to ask, then dont do it unless you want to buy new housings

Yep, I killed at least 3 housings before I was able to control the die grinder good enough to keep it from skipping all over the housing!

I might be joining you in your rebuilding adventure!
I'm about to purchase a 88 AE with a cooked motor.
but, if I were you, I wouldn't pay more than $200 for a dead 13B-t. You can get a used longblock with 30k on it for $750USD.

Go for it. Have fun. Everybody has to start somewhere. 1 year ago, I had never opened a rotary. Right now Im in the process of rebuilding and porting 2 motors. One is a 12A with a big street port, and the other is the 13B for Justins(rx7impreza) car.

You have to have a special adapter for the rotary(it bolts directly to common piston engine stands) it is available from Mazdatrix, runs about 100 bucks(im guessin). I think racing beat may sell them as well but Im not even 50/50 on that statement
