not sure offhand, but I think that's been asked recently. Do a search for in this section and the archive section for "offset" or "spacing" or "17x7" and you should see the post

That's the way that I went!

See my sig for the details...

Other then looks I have never been able to overwhelm the tire/wheel combination that I have

The rain doesn't phase them, dry traction is beyond the chassis capabilites and they never rub, so if it's looks your after keep checking or testing to find out the biggest combination possible, other wise get the 215-45r's and enjoy the ride

225/45/17 is the correct +1 size.&nbsp Anything other than that will throw off the speedo (215's are off) or be too big for the fronts (225 max up front).

Ted, you sure about the 215's being off size, I was pretty sure that when I measured them against my stock 205-60r15's the were pretty much an exact height match...

Yep, but I'm comparing them with a Turbo II 205/55/16 stock size.&nbsp I dunno what the original poster owns?

I think 215's would be a better fit for a 7" width rim. I had 215/45/17's on a '91 N/A w/RB springs/bars and Tokico non-adjustables on 17x7.5's and it cornered VERY well. You're also going to have reduced clearance problem possibilities up front with 215's.

I'm pretty sure 225 is the max recommended width for a 7" wheel.

Here's some comparison info for you:
Diameter/Revs per mile

205/55/16: 24.9"/811
215/45/17: 24.6"/819
225/45/17: 25.0"/808

Never go greater than a 225 on a 7" width. Rule of thumb. Unless it's a 55 series or higher. hehe. Not a good idea with 17" diameter though.

That would depend on:
springs
spring rate
tire brand (some sidewalls bulge more than others)

Bridgestone Potenza SO-3 (good for wet)
Michelin Pilot Sport
Pirelli PZero Rosso
Toyo Proxes T1-S (good for wet, just about on par with the above on dry, but the most affordable of the bunch)

I've had some PZeros before and they are some GRIPPY ****'s...

another tire to consider is Falken Azenis. I wrote a bunch about them in a different post. Good low cost tires.

yes...honestly man, if you are getting tires for the 17's...go with 215/45's all around. i have 17x7's and 215/45's on my 91 n/a. they fit nicely. in fact...i'm not sure i'd go wtih 225 up front like a lot of guys say. the 215 up front on my car were VERY VERY close to the spring. i have skinny fingers and could just barely get my index between the sidewall and the spring. plus you can rotate them when they are all the same size...something you can't do if you have much wider tires in the rear. either way though, if you go with 215/225/whatever, you're gonna notice a much better handling car than the stock 205 tires

good luck

I have the Falken Azenis 225/45 R17 on all four 17X7 rims and they clear with no rubbing. The front however is rather close. There is less than half an inch clearance between the strut/spring and the sidewall of the tire. When I get new shoes, I'll probably get 215/45 R17's

245's probably won't fit on 7" wheels. 225's is kinda stretching it.

Go talk to Rishie ARD T2 - he runs a wheel and tire shop and knows the fitments by memory.&nbsp Too much BS in this thread.
