17x12 rims on my FC

Made ya Look!
I need help, I am installing a GTC bumper, and a Tripoint widebody kit on my TO4S 2nd gen. I am now looking for wheels-Cheap! I am looking for 17x10 fronts, and 17x11 rears. Weight at this point is a minor consideration. If I had the money, I'd by Kinesis, fiske, etc. Since I've spent my money elsewhere what I'm Iooking for is a steel wheel like the Circle Racing wheels(16x12 is under 100.00), problem is they don't make 17s in that style. Does anyone know of a manufacturer of steel wheels that come in 17x9.5,10,11,12? Also does anyone know the offset range I will need? I have lots of room to the outside, and stock clearances to the inside. Any ideas are appreciated. I plan on running 275-40-17s in front, and 315-35-17s in the rear. Rishie help me!!!! Thanks, Carl

try these people. I have a WideBody Turbo fb. And I've been looking for rims for a long time. These are the cheapest I found. To find out the negative offset, you should send Tripoint a e-mail and ask them. They should know the the specs on the wheels that would fit your kit.

The rims I ordered are (17"X8" front $275/each), and (17"X11" $290/each rear). Shipping to Miami airport $220. Good price for 3piece light weight wheels.

here is a pic of my car whithout the wheels. when they come in, and I could afford tires I will post a pic.

thank's, 17"x12" would have fit in the rear, but since I have a roll cage the tires would hit the bolts holding the cage. But I guess 11's should be wide enough for a first gen.

its possible to make fender flares for the rear so you can put on 17"x 34" if you wanted to. Just depends on how much you want to spend.

I run Oz moda II 17x10.5's in the rear... in my opinion I really don't think you need to run any more then an 8 all around because the wheel is WAY too heavy for my rx7, it's also bad for drifiting and any type of performance racing (unless your drag racing and having trouble hooking up with the ground... but i'd imagine you wouldn't be asking anyone about it here).

Unless your doing it for style... then your sacrificing alot of your driveability.

just my .02 cents, i've been there and done that and didn't like it.

And I should add... 10.5 will be perfectly flush with the stock fenders (on the rear) 8 is flush in the front with two spacers and no spacers on the front. They look friggin AWESOME on the car... but they suck when it comes down to it.

Talking

This is for what will be a 400+hp road race car with a full widebody kit. For right now, I am going to use some 17x9.5" Supra rims I have with a spacer all the way around . The tires will be 275-40-17s all around. Thanks, Carl

Okay, the wording of you post has me confused... are you saying that 10.5 inch rims suck or 12 inch rims suck?

I was making the statement that 10.5 inch wide wheels are overkill for a car that doesn't make some incredibly high hp number (like 400+). The previous owner of my car put those huge *** wheels on my car, and imo, fried the clutch and the tranny in doing so. The bigger wheels change the shift points all around on my car and make it pretty shitty to drive. Also, hard to steer without power steering. But if he's putting down the numbers that he needs that kinda traction, more power to ya. If he just wants wide wheels for the appearence or "proposed perfomance gains of a low profile wide tire" then I think he should take into consideration that a rather stock FC will not respond well to them.

So in summation, because he is making big hp numbers my post is irrelevant.

ummm im not to sure that wider wheels will change your shift points at all....lol also even if they are 17s on there they are prolly plus sized. I run 245/35/17s which i think is about 9.5 inches...on my 88 GTU and noticed little to no difference between stock other than the fact that it handled alot better, altohugh in sure it is a little slower in the 1/4......my TII swap im sure will make up for that though! lol
