16.4 in 1/4 after full exhaust and intake...?

Ok see my sig for my mods.

When my car was bone stock I ran 16.5's constantly. Now that I have all those mods done I can only run a 16.4.................what the hell? Clutch is great its a new ACT street strip, tires are Khumo 712's brand new, I just cant figure it out.

Im also having this problem where after 7k rpms the check engine light will flicker on and the engine will stumble. Don Marvel and I think it has something to do with the TPS, but other than that the car runs great. Im really stumped, would the problem with the tps cause such a slow time?

60ft. times?

I would say, get the car running right before you get worried about how fast it is.

are your 6 ports still working??

2.6 is pretty bad... pratice your launch. 2.0-2.2 is good. that'll knock almost a sec off the end.

Yes my 6th ports are still working as far as I know. If they werent I would definately know. I really dont think its my launchs that are hurting me though, Im sure they dont help but when the car was stock i was hitting something like 89mph I believe at 16.5. What should be a good time for the mods I have done now? I figured I would be somewhere in the high 15's

hehe you sound like me when I took my 89 gtu to the track, I would nail the launch and the best time I got was a 16.2. a 60' of like 2.3 but as soon as I shift to 2nd the tires would bark.

yeah this is pretty frustrating considering with the 1200 i spent on exhaust and intake i could have put it towards paying Don Marvel to build me a custom turbo set up and have easily been in the high 13's.

well, did u feel the difference w/ yer full exhaust and intake? it should have been a night and day affair coming out of a bone stock NA, totally different car. If so it's probably just your driving that you'll get better with over time. work on your launch, are you getting any wheelspin? is the suspension modified? healthy compression and oil mileage?

Actually I didnt really feel all that much difference when I put the exhaust on. When I got the header on I felt no difference at all. I didnt get any wheel spin when I got the 16.4. The compression is good as far as I know, ive never had it tested so im guessing. And the oil was changed 1500 miles ago. Suspension is not modified in anyway.

do you still have the air pump on? I would be checking the 6 ports. you probably gained from the header, but lost your 6 ports... which is why it's the same now...

I still have the airpump on because I know thats whats used to actuate the 6th ports. If the 6th ports werent working then after about 5k it would just fall on its face, I know this because when I was changing some vacuum lines I busted a pastic peice on a solenoid that was used for the 6th ports and they didnt open. You could definately feel that they didnt open, but it doesnt feel like that now. So im confused still.

Would it make you madder if I told you I havent even spent $500 in peformance parts?

Ya doing all that stuff sounds like a good idea. You might find the problem while doing all of that.

My odometer reads 225,000 but its only around 100,000 on the second motor, or so Im told. Yes the motor isnt ported yet but my intake manifold is. Mine is also a Base Model so it only weighs about 2,600 lbs.

S5's have slower times than S4's, btw my 89 GTU was moded with headers and true dual exhaust with an H-pipe, I had a cone and use synthetic and premix and those where the best times I got
