1500+mi on the rebuild... and shes finally broken in!!

Well I hit 1500 miles today on the way to get my car aligned... I guess I really will be able to autox it this weekend So today I spent the afternoon working on her... changed the oil... changed the sparkplugs... put that plastic sheild from under the engine back on.... and pulled some compression numbers... this is where it got fun.

I dug out my compression tester, screwed the sucker in and had my brother turn it over... 25,25,25... ****... its sounded stronger than 25psi(had the other plug out) so I ran to autozone and grabbed a new compression tester(always need a second opinion)... 105,105,105 on the front and 110,110,110 on the rear

So now my question... which is prolly in the FAQ.. my car has no power over 7000rpm... is this normal cuz the stock ports can get enough fuel/air in and out or is my car screwed up as usual?

Thanks for your time,
Rob

Did you use new or used housings? I'd be happy with those numbers.

used housings, new apex, side, and corner seals... those arent exact figures... I rounded up but they were both over 100psi the rear had more compression...

Uh, what kind of exhaust system are you running?
Stock exhaust systems choke the engine, so having no power over 7kRPM is not a surprise.

Why you revving it that high for???
It's not like the engine makes that much more power up there.

My 5/6th ports work... I believe...

I didn't port the engine because I am going to autox it in E stock... so no ports for me

I am running the stock exhaust... I am revving that high(i've done it twice) once because I was passing a truck up hill and wasnt paying attention to the tach and the other time I wanted to hear the redline alarm everyone was talking about(I know its stupid but its my money/car)

Is the breakin period for new gaskets and seals or just seals? The hard seals are fine on mine so just replaced the soft seals.

Ah, get used to "peeking" at the tach with your peripheral vision.
With the stock exhaust, the car does not make any additional power at redline.

I keep seeing these comp #'s ex. 105,105,105 or 95,95,95.. Is there a comp tester out there that can get absolute comp from each rotor?? When I hold the pin down I only get 35-40 max as im turning the motor. Those repeated #'s sound more like mazda comp test #'s

Yeah, I'm pretty much a new owner. I've had the car since Feb. this year and I did the rebuild over the winter/spring... the first time I drove it was the end of june... and now this week is the first time i've had it over 5-6000rpm.... So i'm just finding this kinda stuff out... Now I know.
