I run 15x4 weld pro stars on the front of my FC they will not clear you have to grind the transfer port on the caliper down to the mazda logo level and run a 5mm spacer.

Best way is to get 15mm spacer and longer ARP studs. Most tracks will not let you run without the longer studs when running slicks and skinnies.

Just in case anyone in the future wants to know...

I had the same issue. I went with the 5mm spacers and grinded the ports oops grinded too far now the caliper was dead....

So, off the the junk yard for new calipers. I was told that 1991 fc non turbo calipers were 2 pot in the front. Smaller too...

They were right.

So, in conclusion if you wanna run skinnies on a budget get 91 n/a front calipers.

good luck,

Joe

How come your the only one who could get away with this? Others have grinded and still didn't work without spacers.

Just swapped the calipers. Maybe the rotor too but I can't remember. Sorry it was 9 years ago.

I cant remember what offset but the wheels were Weld Drag Stars.
If I remember correctly thought the wheels stuck out slightly past the fender.
Still looked good though.

hmm, those summit fast fives are the exact same wheels are the same wheels that "cyipher" above tried out and said they didn't work. I believe he grinded on the caliper too.

i'd really like to know as I have the fast five rear wheels already. I looked at your pictures. do you have a picture of the grinded caliper? also what diameter front tire are you running.

I tried to grind my caliper, after i destroyed one and had to pay 100 dollars for an new one and decided to clearence my fast fives instead. They worked fine into the mid 9's but it wasnt the smartest thing to do. Ryan I'd buy the 91 N/A caliper/rotor and try that as i really didnt notice a difference between my dinky 85 front brakes and the 91 TII brakes. Or run a lun centric spacer and longer studs (I know eibach makes the spacer and Summit brand has the studs, i run the summit stud and their working good.) However i run a manual brake system with a different pedal ratio and bore size, so i dont know if that makes a difference.
