Hey levi, what kind of tires do you have? Get some drag radials and then see what you get.

wow... how did you take this so personal?

I only asked for time slips... anyone can say I ran 14.6..

I am not saying you are not being truthful, I just wanted to see a time slip, and sometimes even those can be faked..

The only reason, I bring this up is, a guy said he ran 14.6 @ 93 mph.. and so did 3 of his friends.. I raced him twice same story... so was he and all his friends full of it?? Maybe.....

prob so. drivin at the track is harder than the street you know that. its all in the drivin. and im hell on my cars at the track. i think i threw the time slip away. i had it around for a while showin all of my friends it. when i got rid of the 7 i got a awd turbo talon. so whats the point of the 14.6 timeslip for??hehe.

Its a custom NOS system. It started out as a 5123 but the 50 shot didn't have enouph kick, Upgraded the fuel pump pressure regulator to kill the system in the event of Fp loss and changed jets.

Other mods, Full custom exhaust, DF centerforce clutch,
Crate motor done 25k miles A/F guage etc. Going turbo on the 100 this winter and will post up the timeslips in the spring.

PS 100 shot messes the N/A tranny pretty bad synchro's can only last 3 runs and they overheat. best 14.2 the car is a 1990 and these times were done on 17" rims and tires. Spinning through second and hoping third.

I ran a 16.0 with a 2.7 60ft-er I had already broken one drive shaft on the street so I took it easy off the line. I was at 88mph I think. I have to go dig up the time slip.

90gtu weponR airfilter, racingbeat header and presilencer, on 205/60/15 potenza tires. I had a lot of new parts on this car, filters/plugs/wires/fluids. but that was it for the power mods. I think that I could have ran a low 15 with a good 60ft, my buddies mustang was running 14.9 and from a 15mph roll I would wouldn't loose any more than 2 cars to 110mph

GHLS I know you're talking about 1/4 mile times, but suspension setup has a very important effect on acceleration in general. If you have a "tuned" (I know that's a very vague term) suspension then you can control weight shifting (very important to accelerating, and braking for that matter). What...custom work did you do to make this setup "solid" and what do you mean by solid, what did you make solid?

Bdoty311, Detiruch i was talking about an S5 NA never seeing the 14s especially a damn GXL too heavy

GLHS Detiruch has ran 14.6 not once but many times Ive seen the slips as well

Detiruch you wanna talk about a certain S5 GTUs that youve driven with a streetport and its still slow....

I made the tranny mounts solid..they no longer have a rubber bushings.. I use a poly based bushings, for no movement.

I welded a bracket to make the diff mount solid.

I also welded the rear tail shaft housing to the sub framewith a brace/bracket.

I also removed the upper diff mounts.

I copied the setup from a guy who has been racing RX7s for almost 20 years..

Put it this way... it doesn't break anymore...

i think high 14s would be possible w/ a good amount of weight reduction (91 coupes are a bit heavy), ported intake manifold gasket, cone filter/cold air intake, 2.5" exhaust, lightened flywheel, good tires, and most important: good driver

it doesnt take that much, just a decent amount of mods.... but good driving is the key
you should put a cold air intake in your n/a, it made mine pull harder over my hks system...

I've got a 89 with a street port which i hear does not add a whole lot with the six port engines but it has racingbeat exhaust, kn, wires a few other things like clutch and flywheel and i am seeing 15.3 at 93. this shows how much wheel spin i have. The car will go 14's in a couple of weeks with some BFG drag radials. At the track traction is worse believe it or not and i hit 10.09 in the 1/8. Hope to get the car to a low 14 soon.

GLHS,

Is there a write up of the diff mounts? I am sure I can get under the car and figure my own out, but I'd rather use tried and true racing guy tech.

Pictures on the car would be enough...

I know most of you won't believe it, but the dude who ran 14s got it down to thirteens. He never told me what was really under the hood, or exhaust work, but it's true and valid. Oh yea I had a very quick n/a, they all said could run high 14s easy. I raced and t2 and beat him. Of course he wasn't as far moded as I was, but they should run 14.9-15.1. If you don't believe well that's your opinion. It could happen, but man I put some money it that N/A.

To the dude who originally asked the question, do whatever makes you happy. Keep trying, be different!

haha... i had that filter for two weeks, then i put a K&N cone, a year after that i got sick of sucking in hot air, so that cone is now where my window sprayer bottle was

it was a good mod to do and the brake cooler stops it from sucking big gulps of water in.
