13bt swap

have a 13b with a flooded motor sitting in my driveway. definitely needs either rebuilt or new engine. i figure if i get new engine, it's rebuilt and in the long run easier for me... anyways if i'm taking my stock (1986 rx7 gxl 13B) motor + tranny out, why not stuff a better one in?

easiness on swapping an '87 13bt into an '86 13b compartment? what kind of engine management am i going to need to look into? cutting? direct fit? gauges & ECU? what options am i looking at?

i'm not looking to get different turbo or injectors or anything, just stock (or replaced if the stock motor ones are bad)

you're gonna need a lot....

If you look in the stickies up top, there's a FAQ for FCs. there should be a link that goes into detail about what you need and how much it would cost for the swap....

Why does a flooded motor automatically require a rebuild?

probably because it's too much of a pain in the *** to pull the leading plugs and crank the engine....

yea, really dude, just pull the plugs, try cranking the motor for like 10 seconds then put the plugs back in and go at it.....too much involved in swapping just cause you engines flooded....

when i say "flooded" i mean it was in a flood. water and such. not the usual meaning of the term. and pulling the plugs didn't work so well either

well id assume scrapping the whole car would be the best bet in this case. i mean rust on a 20 year car can be bad enough, plus **** loads of water???

my fc is 86 na na also. I converted it to s5 t2.. Its best to find a front clip of s5 t2 . I did it the hard way, I bought teh motor and tranny itself and wiring harness and just did it like tahta nd had to get otehr parts seperately.. Its easy if u have afront clip.. Its around like 2 grand for one..From tehre you can just get eevrything u need and just swap it over. Its easy. the engine fits right in.. Also recoemnd changing to the t2 driveshaft, its thicker than the na s4 one, and also get t2 lsd, and 5 lug conversion if its not already 5 lugged.
