Lightbulb 13BT in 90Miata

I'm looking for anyone with any information/suggestions/thoughts about sticking a 13BT into a 90mazda miata. What would be involved, would turbo tranny be required as well, and how hard do you think it would be to convert to? I'm not looking for flames, just want to stick a wankel into a miata!

Mazdatrix did it a few years ago, and they said it was rather a pain in the ***. Might be info on their site?

I might be able to help...

Before you do anything, you need to accept the hardest parts:

You'll need a stand-alone engine management system (I use a Haltech) and...

You're going to need to seriously modify the tranny tunnel (by almost 3") to fit the bell/clutch slave of the TII tranny, losing the heater core in the process, and...

Access to a good welder for the motor mounts and the time/inclination to make the measurements, and...

You'll need an aftermarket (or torsen) diff, which isn't cheap and lastly...

A BIG, FAT insurance policy.

With that said, if you want to go on with the project, it is one hell of a ride.

If you think you can do it for $2000 plan for $4000. If you can do it in 3 month plan for 6 months. It is possible to do but can get expensive and very time consuming to do it right. If you want a daily driver miata just turbo it with a greddy kit for less than $2000 and then upgrade that later. Much cheaper and will take way less time.

Sorry, forgot to mention. Its a TII engine/trans in the car with the Camden supercharger on it. It was decided early on the turbo was going to be more dificult to mount using factory pieces than the supercharger. He didn't want to deal with a custom manifold just to stick with a turbo. The power delivery of the supercharger is more useful in autocross. Very linear from 3800RPM to redline.
