13bt/12a in a trooper 2?

My friend has an old trooper 2 (80's model) and it needs a new engine. We were thinking of maybe... putting something different in it... if you know what I mean! So, anyone know of whether this swap will work and which engine would be best? the current engine is a 1.8L four.

What's a trooper 2? What sort of car? What'll it be used for? Can you weld? How much money do you have? What are your power goals? Don't you know that the 20B would be better?

Its a japanese SUV. You know, Isuzu trooper 2. I don't really have power goals, its for a friend of mine. He is just fascinated with rotaries and thinks that they are cool. Anyways, 20b's are hard to come across, as well as being mucho more expensive. Not only that, I would have to get a haltech for the 20b, while I can use the stock ecu or carb for the 12a/13b.

Well, if it's an SUV, you're probably going to want haul or tow stuff with it. Which means you want more torque than a rotary will provide. I'd recommend doing a budget Ford 302 or Chevy 350 swap. If you want something neat to put a rotary in, try a Toyota Starlet or the like...

I've seen a Tracker with a rotary, it poped wheelies cause of the small whell base...if you want to you'll have to modify the motor mounts and get a compelet engine ecu, harness, fuel pump and what not

Wouldn't it be possible to grab that off of a junkyard car? Even with mostly stock internals you can still do some light-moderate modding. Not to mention that the trooper has a S!@tload of space in the engine bay.
